1829 Federal era mansion converted into an Inn. Rooms are quite comfortable and decorated in the 19th century style. Only 10 rooms and it was full when we visited. Nice parlor room with fire place. Perfect location or just plain relaxing with a book and enjoying the mountain view, or bird watching and hiking. Great restaurant attached.

INNKEEPER’S FAVOURITE REVIEW
Reviewed 8 September 2016 via mobile

We went to the Ashby Inn for our anniversary. Everything about the experience was excellent. The wait staff were attentive but not hovering. When asked they made thoughtful suggestions about the food and the wine. All the food, from the appetizers through dessert, were very good or excellent. Usually there is at least some small thing to point out as... More

Balm to the soul. A crisp autumn day in the foothills of the mountains at a gracious Inn. Delicious food. Outstanding service. Extraordinary attention to customer satisfaction! Delightful setting. We will definitely return to stay at the Inn and explore the area.

The Ashby is a quaint and tasteful inn in a beautiful location. Our room was comfortable and accommodating. Bath robes and port sampler were nice touches. Excellent breakfast included with room. Two nits -- small bathroom and lugging suitcases up/down a narrow staircase to/from 2nd floor room.

My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary. The staff were friendly when we interacted with them. We had the five course tasting menu with wine paring and it was ok. The food was fine but nothing "special" and the wine did not pair all that well. However, the sommelier was very friendly and talkative we just didn't think... More

Staying and eating at the Ashby Inn is a special event to be savored. We have family in Northern Virginia, and have stayed at many, many places in the area. Middleburg's Red Fox Inn is great for high end, small town Virginia. The Ashby Inn is equal to it if not better, but offers the quiet solitude of the horse... More

This is an exceptionally beautiful and well run property. The rooms are spacious, quiet and exquisitely furnished. The location is convenient to a number of wineries which make for excellent day trips. For what it's worth, two of my favorites are Greenhill Winery and Delaplane Cellars. The food served at the Inn was a bonus! An outstanding dinner and breakfast.... More

We appreciated the attention to style & warmth in our curiously named "Victorian Room." I am recovering from oral surgery & was, in fact, returning to John Hopkins after our stay at the Inn. Our host Allen noted my apprehensiveness in ordering breakfast and was memorably thoughtful in responding. Thanks for a special interlude in Paris!

I just spent the night here as a quick mid-week getaway out of DC, and it was a wonderful visit. The house is beautiful and comfortable, the service is excellent (Allan really took care of us), and the surrounding areas offer cute towns and wineries, gorgeous countryside, and top-notch restaurants. I cannot wait to return.
