We chose this as the closest Marriot property to Blackstone VA where we were attending a shareholder meeting. While the property is showing some wear since my last visit the public areas and room were very clean and my upgrade processed appropriately. Breakfast was due to Covid a disappointment but we had some food with us and supplemented the poor choices available. Sleep quality was good and the landscaping made the exterior very inviting.
Stayed 2 nights so we could bike the tobacco heritage trail. Staff super friendly. We had a king suite which was nice to have that sitting area in the evening. I hate Marriott pillows. They are way too soft. The bed gave me a backache after the 2nd night. Shower was fine and water pressure ok. Breakfast is a bag with a muffin, breakfast sandwich, juice, and yogurt. They have a coffee area. This hotel is right off I-85 but there really isn’t anything to do in the area.
I was planning to stay for 4 nights for a Business trip and changed my plans after one. The sheets were stained on the first bed so I was going to change to the next bed but found a hair as soon as I pulled back the sheets. The staff cleaning hotels should wear hair nets because if I find it, I’m going to assume it wasn’t cleaned well or at all. The microwave didn’t work and the refrigerator froze my food. Never to return.
We got the King suite and it has everything we need for the 3 of us! My 16 month old can be separate from us, but still in sight thanks to the living area; which helps all of us sleep better! This is also the only hotel in the area I could find with a microwave, which is a must have for a multiple nights stay with a toddler! I am very satisfied with this room and will definitely stay here again when I’m in town!
Stayed here as a one night stopover during a long road trip. There were a few items that kept this from being a better stay. First off, the positives. Staff was friendly and obviously knew several of the guests by name. Parking was plentiful and plenty of covered parking at the front entrance, especially appreciated that because it was raining hard during check out. Breakfast had a variety of items, it wasn't stellar but still met our needs. Breakfast area was clean. Our room was clean and had enough towels, pillows, etc. Now to the room upgrade. Due to my husband's status with Marriott Bonvoy, we were told that our room was upgraded to a larger room. Normally that is a good thing but this time, due to our short stay, a smaller room in a better/quieter location would have been preferred because we just wanted a good nights sleep. Our room was directly over the front entrance. This wouldn't have been a problem except for the fact that twice after midnight, at least two check ins occurred and we woke up to loud talking, car doors slamming, etc. Then at 6am, it was the same thing but with early check outs. I don't blame the property at all for the timing of their guests checking in or out but it was unfortunate luck on our part that we were given an "upgraded" room in a part of the property that receives a lot of activity. Also, the desk in the room didn't have good access to a power source without getting on the floor and running a charging cord under the desk. Most properties have a lamp or other device on the desk that provides more convenient access to a power outlet. And the last issue is that in the layout of this room, when the heat came on, the fan unit under the window blew the curtains over one side of the bed which got a rush of warm/hot air. Unfortunately, not the best night's sleep all around!…
