We returned for a second, springtime, visit in late April. We missed the redbuds, but never mind. Pembroke Springs is lovely through all four seasons. The breakfasts continue to be spectacular, but we had to miss the a special spring lamb dinner offered this time. We;'ll keep checking the website for future dinner specials the Retreat offers from time to...

I loved my stay there. It is so beautiful in spring, when the Redbud Trees are in bloom. Some highlights of my stay were the Japanese baths, and also the trails, and the view. It is lovely and very peaceful. I highly recommend this family owned retreat to anyone who loves nature, or just wishes for a little quiet time....

Re-treat: Noun: a quiet or secluded place in which one can rest and relax: ex. "their mountain retreat in Virginia" Pembroke Springs Retreat epitomizes this definition. Wakening to a chorus of birds in the Sunrise room today after falling to sleep last night after a soak in the Japanese style bath was more than just a retreat. This is a...

Perched on a hill in Virginia just east of the West Virginia border, this small family-owned inn isn't a place one just stumbles across. We were referred to it by friends and stayed over on a startlingly cold winter Sunday. The inn itself is elegant and understated, the rooms are good-sized and warm, the ambiance is welcoming -- but the...

Thank you Edward, We very much enjoyed having you! Many years ago my Parents started up the inn as a bed & breakfast, and we do plan on staying that way for now. We plan on offering dinner only if we can find the right Chef to accommodate. Some of our Guests would rather go out and do not want...

My girlfriend, native-born Japanese, treated me to a stay as a birthday present. I told her it was the second best gift I had ever received, behind only a brand new bicycle I got when I was ten. She found Pembroke Springs to be authentic and the main feature, the natural spring bath, was a transcendent experience. After a thorough...

We visited Pembroke Springs retreat for a quick getaway weekend. We have stayed here almost every year for the past 10 years. Lisa, Taeko and Walter always give us a warm welcome. Even though we are not Japanese, we love the excellent Japanese dinners and breakfasts and the heated mineral baths. There are miles of marked trails in the woods...

Gosh - where to begin? The whole thing was fabulous. Extremely comfortable, relaxing (the baths are divine), gourmetlicious (amazing multi-course Japanese meals), and the grounds are impressive. We enjoyed the pond - my wife painted and I fly-fished. A couple of nice largemouths and more bluegill than I can remember. Most of all, the hosts are so gracious - Walter...

We booked all the rooms for our daughter's wedding celebration, a party of 10 people. Lisa was marvelous, and worked with us before the weekend to make sure that all our guests would be comfortable, and she anticipated planning details that we had not thought about. She made the entire facility and all its comforts available to us. She and...

Dear Jim, Thank you for your kind words! What a fun weekend we had, and by far the most relaxed Wedding we have ever hosted. Your newly joined families were so wonderful to work with and everyone on the team had a great time being of service. We appreciate so much that you chose our humble B&B. Sincerely, Lisa

Understated jewel set in the mountains at Star Tannery. This is a Japanese Bed, Breakfast and Hot Spring Bath inn that is run my the Floyd family: Walter, Taeko and Lovely Lisa. This atmosphere is very relaxed and slow paced where you can catch up on your reading, sleep or hiking on their 170+ acre property. Walter works non-stop but...

My bf and I stayed at Pembroke Spring Retreat for the weekend. Lisa greeted us with warmth upon arrival. It was my bf's first Japanese bath experience. We enjoyed the bath and the well prepared Japanese cuisine. It's very relaxing to be surrounded in the natural setting, over 100 acres of greens, hotbath and waking up to delicious Japanese breakfast....
