Invited my husband's cousin to North Mountain Ranch. Dwight took us up mountains, down mountains and through the George Washington Forest. Two days of riding on Casper and Mickie, grooming them, and turning them out to pasture are unforgettable experiences. Dwight is a gentleman cowboy, deeply cares about his horses and his guests. Three nights in a cozy lodge, lounging... More

In July 2016, my granddaughter joined me for my second visit to North Mountain. It was an experience that we will never forget. Dwight allowed us to spend lots of time with our horses, grooming them, and educating us on just about everything to do with horses. My granddaughter had never been near a horse and Dwight soon had her... More

My family and I had a great morning of riding in the George Washington National Forest with Dwight, the owner. They don't make them like Dwight anymore. He was really patient working with a group of novice riders, and worked hard to make it an enjoyable experience for all of us. Highly recommended.

Dwight is a hoot. The owner/cowboy operator was a lot of fun and the four of us that rode with him had a very enjoyable morning. Not far from Charlottesville this place is a hidden gem. I will definitely be taking more of our visitors back here for a ride. Also, we saw a good size bear while out. Thanks... More

What a great ride! I just had my 4th ride with Dwight and his very well trained trail horses, and the experience was positive and fun as always. There were 3 of us - 2 experienced trail riders and one novice rider. Dwight did an excellent job of matching horse to rider - I gave him info prior to the... More

We had booked this experience a year ago as part of our mini tour of the area and boy did we enjoy it . After a wee hic up over the booking date/arrival time, due to us booking so long in advance we were shown to the most beautifully build , decorated and maintained bunk house, a log cabin build... Quick girl's getaway that proved to be an incredible trip. The location is quite rural but the best places are always worth hunting down. Dwight is an excellent horseman with an amazing herd of horses. For this cowgirl with over 30yrs of experience in training/working with horses, it's easy to get bored on made horseback rides but not here. Trails... More

We purchased a coupon through Living Social for my husband and daughter to go horseback riding. They were very accommodating on scheduling the ride and a pleasure to work with. My husband had promised to take my daughter riding years ago, but due to a series of injuries was unable to meet his promise until last month. There was a... More

I bought the Groupon last year and wasn't able to use it during its promotion period. Basically, it was $225 for a two-person overnight and half-day ride (1/2 price). Groupon, of course, retains the purchase value if not used before the expiration date. So my wife and I were quite offput when trying to book a similar package (on sale... More

This is a great place to get away from it all and unwind. The ranch is lovely and well cared for by Dwight and his family. We stayed overnight in the bunkhouse which was decorated in keeping with the cowboy theme. Jason and Jennifer kept us well fed at each meal and we had a great time on the half... More
