This is our third stay at The Inn at Little Washington, and it is Worth A Journey, even a long journey. It is a truly special place created by one of the great chefs of the world, Patrick O'Connell, who still is in residence and cooking at the Inn. (See my restaurant review in that regard, which is Magnificent in...

There's little wonderful one can say that hasn't been been said already. The cuisine is superb and creative, served on a series of tasting menus. I'd like to note that the 2 story suites are beautiful but if you have problems with stairs, there is quite a steep ascent to these rooms. Ask before you book about the ease of...

For ten years now we have told our friends that our best experience was at the Inn. When our friends had an anniversary to celebrate we felt very confident suggesting a dinner there. Ten years later I am very sorry to report abysmal service and just ok food. The poor service began with the hostess, who we alerted to the...

A trip to the Inn is truly a gift that keeps giving. Dinner was a prize fix that I honestly wasn't sure would work for me this time but Patrick and his team never fail. Been coming here for many years and have NEVER been disappointed. Food is like no other but be open to take a few risks. Wine...

The Inn was just as lovely as everyone had told us. The food in the restaurant was excellent and we enjoyed the menu options. Can't say enough positive things about the staff and the experience. Everyone was awesome - friendly, informative and always make you feel special.

As is my custom, I have attached my recent letter to Jason Waterlow, the Managing Director at the Inn at Little Washington, after my recent visit. For those of you reading this who think I am too picky and should lighten up on my comments, I would say that, having been in the hospitality business for ten years, I appreciated...

I waited for the initial buzz to wear off, but it didn't. This is what 5 Star looks like in the Real world. From the minute we arrived until the minute we left...EVERYTHING was perfect. Having an F&B background, I know how difficult it is to get everyone on the same sheet of music. This place is choreographed perfectly, from...

From the moment we walked until the time we left this was a awesome experience. To begin their was a member of our party that is in a wheelchair. The staff brought out a ramp to get him to the dining level. At the table we were presented with menu's that wished the person whose birthday we were celebrating a...

The afternoon tea is complimentary and ushers in the exquisite luxury of service for your stay. The chef, Patrick O'Connell is an icon among the international scene for being self-taught but a highly engage entrepreneur in making a memorable visit whilst paying exorbitantly for it. Turn-down service offers a memento (don't want to spoil it for you) and morning breakfast...

You just know it's going to be special when you pull up outside the front door. And at every turn, it absolutely is. Beautiful rooms, fabric everywhere, wallpaper, coziness. Our room was the Jacques Pepin room and had a fireplace, heavy draperies and a little balcony. Homemade treats and drinks were waiting in the room when we checked in. Beautifully...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the small town of Washington, Virginia, The Inn at Little Washington is the only Double Forbes Five Star, Double AAA Five Diamond property in the Washington metro area. The Inn's eighteen bedrooms and suites are sumptuous hideaways created by Joyce Evans, a London stage and set designer, for whom The Inn has become a life's work. Many of the furnishings were purchased in England, numbered and shipped to Virginia to be assembled on site like a giant jigsaw puzzle. The Inn offers a range of accommodations from well-appointed rooms to luxurious, two story suites many with balconies and garden views. The Inn's dining rooms are pure fantasy - a wondrous cocoon of luxury. Rose-colored, silk lampshades float above each table creating a private, romantic world below. Chef/Proprietor Patrick O'Connell's creations arrive as if served by invisible hands, course after course more dazzling than the last. From the award-winning 14,000 bottle wine cellar, which includes the finest offerings from Bordeaux, Burgundy, California and Virginia, the Sommelier plays matchmaker between you, your dinner and the wine. ... more   less
