We stayed five nights, we thought according to the internet it would be nice, we were disappointed. Most Hilton’s you get a complimentary breakfast and coffee we got neither. I never saw the restaurant open. You could get coffee but you had to pay for it. The room we were in needed work, there was wet rug over by the heating unit. No exhaust fan in the bathroom and everything fogged up. Also the grounds of the hotel were filled with garbage no reason for employees to be talking on the phone when the outside looks so bad…I would not recommend this hotel it is past it’s prime and needs work.

If the rating scale was higher my review would be so as well. From the outstanding service to the amenities, this hotel is one of the best. Although we didn’t stay there for its proximity to Busch Gardens, this hotel is just outside the entrance to the park.

I don’t like to write bad reviews but I feel I must this time. When we arrived we noticed the trash cans were full and overflowing! That didn’t give us a good first impression. So we check in and make the long trek to our rooms! It was three city blocks and several, stairs and ramps to get to the room! And, there were no luggage carts or anyone to assist with luggage. When we opened the door, the rooms were dirty. The carpet had not been vacuumed and the sheets were dirty. This so not what you would expect from a Hilton hotel. So, we make the long trek back to the lobby to cancel the rooms. The front desk person told us he had cancelled the reservation and that we would receive a refund during the night audit. He said he couldn’t give us a receipt since night audit had not been completed. We had to find another hotel and it was pretty late by then. So, here we are six weeks later and still they have not refunded our money. They claim AAA has to handle it since I booked the room through a third party. AAA says the hotel has to refund the money and I’ve made numerous calls to both AAA Travel and the hotel! Don’t stay here and don’t use a third party to book your room!

This Doubletree is an aging hotel that will likely be in need of updates in terms of renovations and services offered as travel again begins to increase, although it still has plenty of upside. The room: standard American hotel room. Beds were comfortable enough, but note they are doubles not queens (at least the ones we got in our room), so a little on the smaller side. The balcony looking forever the pool is a large, usable respite as well. The air conditioning can be set very low so temperature control is not an issue. Shower had great water pressure and heat control. With all that said, we did have one large bug, and the chair we had in our room was noticeably stained. We also never had our room serviced; we also had not been told at check in they had reduced cleaning services. Wifi was spotty and unreliable. At times, it was impossible to connect. There are three elevators: two in the main lobby and a third at the end of their long corridor. While initially helpful, that third elevator became increasingly slow and unreliable - at times feeling like it was getting stuck between the 5th and 6th floors. On the bottom floor, it would occasionally flash “Out of Service,” on the indicator, which was our cue to stop relying on that elevator. Some bookings and Hilton Honors members will get a $12 credit to their breakfast, which, conveniently for Hilton, is priced at $14.95 pre tax. The breakfast was atrocious for that price. It was, by all means, a low quality continental breakfast offered for free by many other other hotel chains even within the Hilton family of brands. Scrambled eggs were soggy and lukewarm. Bacon was cold. Oatmeal was served artistically on a frozen glass with a dab of fruit on top to make it look like a parfait - but I’ve yet to meet someone who wants cold, gluey, oatmeal. The fruit was canned fruit salad with cottage cheese but no yogurt. The pastries were straight out of a box. And… that’s it for $14.95+tax and tip per adult. Just avoid it. Use the credit at their little coffee shop. The pool is large and beautiful and the same pool connects both indoors and outdoors. The pool area is large and will accommodate many people for a resort like atmosphere. The location is ideal for those wanting to visit both or either Busch Gardens and Colonial Williamsburg. Overall, I’d come back, but would want cleaner furniture and daily cleaning service completed - or at least be notified in advance of its absence. While the Doubletree cookies are always a nice touch, they just can’t make up for their terrible breakfast or lack of cleaning service.

Took the family to Busch Gardens and this hotel was about 3 minutes from the park - Convenient. Rooms were spacious and clean. Nice, wide hallways, Pleasant staff, GREAT Indoor/Outdoor pool. We will definatly stay here again.
