I am a 15+ year customer of the Chrysalis in Bellingham, WA. I have gone to the spa for many years and had many guests stay in the hotel as it is near our house. Today, Oct. 15, I had a 9:00 am pedicure appointment. I showed up at 8:30 and for 20 minutes could not find a parking place within a two block radius of the hotel and the gate was down for the underground parking area. I parked in the temporary parking in front and went into the spa to let them know that I would not make my appointment since I could not find a place to park. I then called Sandi, the spa manager, to cancel the appointment and to let her know the situation. She charged me the $59.50 "no show" fee for the pedicure I never got. I called the hotel manager, Tim, to let him know the situation. He told me that it was "too bad" I couldn't find a parking spot. I told him that I have seen many of the hotel employees (particularly the cook in the restaurant) park in front of the hotel where parking is limited. He said that could not be true since he has told the employees not to park there. He also said he went out after my call and saw three empty parking spots. I am attaching the charge to my account for the pedicure I never got. If there had been any parking spots in the time between 8:30-8:50 when I was driving around, I would have happily taken one and made it to my pedicure appointment. …
Decided on this hotel after our last visit to Fairhaven. We had a water view room. The view is wonderful, location is great for walking. Just a short walk to the Fairhaven district. Hotel is located on the southern end of the boardwalk that goes into downtown Bellingham. The train may be an issue for some. They do provide ear plugs. We did not use them. The bathroom has a large soaking tub, separate shower. Spa amenities, such as bath salts etc., are in the room for $6. I used the bubble bath. There is a mini-bar with reasonable prices than we have seen elsewhere. Although we did not imbibe. The room has a very large TV, a fireplace with a timer, a bay window with seating, desk and chair with ottoman. Kurig coffee, with real cups, not plastic. In the morning we sat curled up in the bay window sipping coffee and watching the boats and one seal playing. Restaurant was excellent and for dinner you need prior reservations, however the bar and outside dinning are available for walk ins. So we had dinner in the bar. Did not use the spa.…
We booked our wedding venue sight unseen. It exceeded all of our expectations! From the suite to the spa to the restaurant to the wedding venue and dinner it was all amazing! Everyone went above and beyond to make our day special!
This was our first stay, following recommendations by friends. It was great! Our room and dinners were great, and the view is wonderful. And the short walk into Fairhaven Village made our visit all the better. We'll definitely be back. Some comments mention sounds from passing trains, but we didn't find it disturbing. Our room was a "partial view" room on the south side, so we didn't get the full sound, but even in the restaurant right above the tracks the trains did not disrupt dinner conversation.
The best hotel experience! Rooms are warm and cozy with a local touch. Views are amazing! Atmosphere was relaxing and inviting. The staff members were always helpful and friendly. We will definitely return for a visit in the future. No other hotel will be considered.
My husband, dog and I escaped the heat in Seattle to a perfect getaway and bonus that this beautiful hotel allowed pets. We loved being able to walk everywhere and hearing the train pass at night. Next time we'd love to experience the spa. Can't say enough about this gem of a hotel!!!!
Lovely boutique hotel. Very clean with friendly staff. The train is very busy and runs throughout the day and night and blows it's whistle approximately 1/4 mile away at a crossing. If you love trains and a great view, this is the place for you. I could not get in for a pedicure due no appointments available. You MUST book ahead of your stay. Great view and comfortable accommodations in the corner king suite.
Good location is about the only thing good about this hotel. Train noise is so prevalent it is very difficult to have a peaceful sleep, and it is all day and all night. The front desk attendant was sitting on a stool and talking on the phone for almost 20 min while we were waiting to check out…..unbelievable. Many other choices around will sure be better for us next time.
I met friends in Bellingham, and they treated me to a night at The Chrysalis Inn and Spa with them before driving to Anacortes to catch the ferry. What a lovely overnight stay! The inn is tucked in a residential neighborhood and sits right next to the water. Inside and out is nothing but elegance! The main stairway is open to the common areas, and there are pieces of art strategically placed on counters and hung on walls. The fireplace in the common area, as well as the one in our room, was so welcome in the cool spring weather. Our room was perfect for three people: 2 double beds and a daybed in the bay window. I slept on the daybed, and it was so comfortable! It was lovely to be able to look out at the water as I was going to sleep. The room and bathroom were spacious and well-appointed, with plenty of room to work at the desk or watch TV or simply sit by the fire. Our breakfast the next morning was delicious; the restaurant is very welcoming and almost every table is by the windows with a view of the bay. We enjoyed oatmeal and muffins and fruit in lovely surroundings; it was a great start to our day! The staff is exceptional and looked after our every need. Very special thanks to Emma at the front desk, who supplied me with linens for the daybed, and delivered other items to our room; and to Anya in the restaurant, who provided amazing service with a smile and even had time to stop and chat for a bit when we had questions about the area. Both Emma and Anya made us feel like VIPs, and seemed genuinely interested in our well-being. Our stay at The Chrysalis Inn may have only been for one night, but it was the PERFECT way to start our vacation! Many thanks to Emma and Anya and everyone there for such a wonderful time. The next time we’re in or near Bellingham, we’ll be back for another visit!…
I booked two King DLX Full Bay View rooms which included breakfast for 3 nights. The rooms were perfect. The beds are very comfortable and the room was very clean. The towels and robes were very soft. The ladies at the front desk were very nice as were the servers in the restaurant Keenan's at the Pier. We enjoyed the convenient location to other restaurants and activities. We also loved the view from our room. We were very active so pretty much passed out every night. I knew in advance about the train so I popped my ear plugs in yet I will admit it did wake me up a few times.
