Hotel's Favourite

I have happily been staying here since they opened and this past night is my latest adventure there. The Chrysalis is truly my favorite "escape" when visiting my family.
This is the epitome of the perfect "boutique hotel": the customer service is incredible; the spa is AMAZING; their restaurant, Keenan's is perpetually yummy, and their rooms are downright gorgeous. NOW, ADD IN THE VIEWS! WOW!!!!
Fairhaven is a delightful section of Bellingham, and The Chrysalis is right there! There are galleries, groovy restaurants, Tony's Coffee (a tradition not to be missed), walkways over the Sound that you will love, and other assorted stores I have probably spent more money at than I will ever admit to my adoring husband ; )
Seriously, you will thank me!

Decided on this hotel after our last visit to Fairhaven. We had a water view room. The view is wonderful, location is great for walking. Just a short walk to the Fairhaven district. Hotel is located on the southern end of the boardwalk that goes into downtown Bellingham. The train may be an issue for some. They do provide ear plugs. We did not use them. The bathroom has a large soaking tub, separate shower. Spa amenities, such as bath salts etc., are in the room for $6. I used the bubble bath. There is a mini-bar with reasonable prices than we have seen elsewhere. Although we did not imbibe. The room has a very large TV, a fireplace with a timer, a bay window with seating, desk and chair with ottoman. Kurig coffee, with real cups, not plastic. In the morning we sat curled up in the bay window sipping coffee and watching the boats and one seal playing. Restaurant was excellent and for dinner you need prior reservations, however the bar and outside dinning are available for walk ins. So we had dinner in the bar. Did not use the spa.

The pictures dont do the room justice its larger than it looks. The partial view rooms are still great views and the window seat was amazing! The soaking tub was so big my husband had to help keep me from slipping under it. The shower was really nice too, water pressure was fair and the soaps they had in there were actually very nice and mint scented. The mini bar only had beer and wine but there's a full bar downstairs also room service was quick and delicious! My only complaint is they closed the kitchen at 9 pm. My biggest compliment is weve stayed at other hotels ib Bellingham for almost twice the price and this place was just as good if not a little better. Also theyre all about recycling and reducing waste which is a nice touch I didnt know about when I picked the place. One thing to note is the hotel is right by a train track so if you arent used to that it might be rough they do provide earplugs.

Room was not only extremely noisy because of the train but room overlooked trash and recycle bins which were picked up at 6am. Also room was over delivery door so constant beeping of trucks backing in and out. We ask for as quiet of a room as possible this did not happen. We booked directly with the hotel so there was not a communication problem, but the hotel did nothing to honor our request. Furthermore there was no hot water in the morning and when we reported this at 9am,after calling 5 times as hotel does not answer phones, hot water did not appear until 1130am. We also had problems with the parking garage as the hotel placed heavy storage items behind our car. Again we had to call several times and since they don't answer their phone finally move these items ourselves in order to move the car. When we reported these issues to the manager Mr. McAdams he was very indifferent to these issues and rude. We love Hilton Hotels, but we will never stay here again!

The hotel is very nice, and the staff is friendly and accommodating. Rooms are clean and have good furniture, I would give a five stars review if not for laud trains going by. The hotel includes ear plugs to mitigate the notice at night.

Hello WojtekLisicki, Thank you so much for staying with us and taking the time to write a review! In addition to ear plugs, we also have fans and white noise machines available from the front desk. We are also hopeful that a "quiet zone" will be implemented in the spring to prevent the trains from blowing their horns. Hope to see you again!

Room was well appointed, comfortable and nicely furnished. Used the spa and the service was excellent. Tried room service and the restaurant and found it to be a bit overpriced and overrated ended up ordering pizza the last couple of nights from a nearby place. Staff are helpful and accommodating and location is great for getting out and stretching.

This hotel is small and quaint, with a good location a short walking distance to Fairhaven shops and restaurants. The in house restaurant was great for drinks and breakfast and also boasts lovely views. The rooms are well appointed with window seats and large soaking tubs. The toiletries were high end and include bubble bath for the tub. Parking is free and in a garage under the hotel- this, in addition to the train, is a bit noisy. The hotel does acknowledge this and provides ear plugs and can also help with white noise. My only complaint is that there was a wedding hosted the weekend we were there. Weddings take up the whole lobby/lounge, so these are off limit to the rest of the hotel guests. The bar was pretty full with the wedding party too, so we choose to eat elsewhere that night. The wedding and their guests in general were just pretty loud. I would stay here again, but only after inquiring that there was not a wedding as we kind of felt like intruders on someone else’s event, which was not ideal for our anniversary getaway.

Lackluster, overpriced, and fake nice are the things that come to mind after a much anticipated two day stay here. I had read in prior reviews about the train noise, but was still rattled whenever it came blasting by less than 50ft from the room window. This same window has a lovely day bed, and large windows that give the whole street and all the guests entering the parking garage a full view into the room. I was also kept up the entire first night by the sound of the guests above me taking baths, because the plumbing of the building is cheap. Faucet in the bathroom also leaked… for $300+ a night I expected A LOT more. Sad.

We had a great stay at the Chrysalis Inn. We felt welcomed, important and safe from the minute we walked into the hotel. Hotel staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The front desk even took my breakfast room service order when the restaurant didn’t pick up the phone! Wow! Our room was beautiful, with a great view of the bay. It was large and the window seat was a great spot to read, have a snack, and just enjoy the sunshine that streamed in through the large window. I have seen some of the complaints about train noise, but we didn’t find that to be a problem. I heard it go by in the night, but wasn’t startled awake by it. If you are a very light sleeper, perhaps rooms facing away from the bay would be best for you. I wouldn’t say it’s a reason not to stay at the Chrysalis though. Their restaurant is delicious (and you can enjoy the bay view from there) and it is so conveniently located, with Fairhaven shops and restaurants just a short 5 minute walk away as well as Boulevard Park and the raised walkway over the water.

I’ve been staying at this hotel for several years and am always excited to return. The full view rooms with window seats create the most relaxed and enjoyable experience. The outdoor patio also has great views, martinis and blackened fish tacos. Yes there is train noise but I find it quite nice and and enhancement to the experience.
