At Thousand Trails La Conner, staff efforts to improve maintenance have been noted, though issues with rudeness and campground facilities occasionally mar the experience. While the hotel's location garners praise for its scenic surroundings and proximity to attractions, guests face challenges navigating the tree-laden area. Accommodations are criticized for needing updates, particularly the bathrooms. Despite cleanliness efforts, certain areas lack attention. The value proposition suffers due to inconsistent Wi-Fi and facility access, but the natural beauty and amenities like the hot tub still manage to impress some visitors.

Having stayed here before and having a great experience I was very disappointed in cleanliness of this cabin. There were cobwebs all over inside. The microwave had not been cleaned having spilled coffee inside and on the countertop. The space between the stove and countertop had debris and cereal. This is supposed to be a pet free cabin, yet when taking out the hide a bed, pet hair all over. I certainly left it cleaner than when I received it. In addition we asked for 2 extra towels and were told we had to get the whole linen kit for $15. Paying $200/night you would think we could get 2 towels. There were 4 of us....

We liked our recent and stay and may consider returning due to the location and views BUT it would be great to see some updates in the coming New Year - especially if you want to encourage paid memberships. At one time, this location was likely a superb spot for travelers to La Conner but the overall aesthetic feels a bit dated. While CoVID-19 has likely impacted the business overall, things like re-graveling the road (to avoid muddy shoes and dogs) as well as offering WiFi for everyone would be much appreciated. As tenting, RVing and camping continue to become much more popular, it's the small things that can sometimes set a business apart. We do appreciate the stay!

We have been coming here for 20+ years. This place has touched 4 generations of our family. Always a head check and soul recharge to be had here. I’ve written poems and memorial services centered around this placid location. No frills. Just self contained beauty for those who know how to enjoy that concept.

We have been a member of TT for 20 years as a couple and I have been going there since the 80's. It is now my expectation that at all locations most of the amenities will be broken and never repaired or repaired years later. I am not to bothered by it but it is sad. The La Conner site has had their dump station closed for years. You will find electrical and water problems everywhere.

I set my expectations low so that I am not disappointed. All locations gravel roads are pulverized and have never been properly maintained. Pulverized gravel is why they have such huge dust problems. It is expensive to maintain but it seems in 20 years they have never attempted to properly maintain it anywhere.

Most of the locations always fall short on location so why on earth the little things are not important to them I fail to understand. Their membership has no value. Every person that buys an RV now gets a free membership. It is probably a good way to get new customers but in the long run loose the ones you have. Your best customer is the one you have. This is why they can no longer guaranteed a spot like the old days. They give the memberships out like Pop corn then charge a fortune to be able to book a little earlier. Crazy!

The best most consistent thing about them is they will likely have a hot shower you can use that works. when camping i appreciate that and use it a lot. Never really had a problem there!

This is TT now. Glad they exist and I will continue to use them if there is not another option for my trip but if you have never been there set your expectations a little below standard and you will not be caught off guard.

Cheers

This campground is dirty. Granted the roads are dirt and that creates the dust, but I'm talking in terms of overall cleanliness. There were dead rat carcasses in Our campsite area. This was probably the result of the long term campers next to our site. There is absolutely no site cleanliness rules here. And if there are, whomever is responsible needs to find a new job. The long term campers/members areas were nothing short of what you would see in downtown Seattle or Portland. Broken down cars, damaged RV parts laying around, junk and trash. Some long term campsites appeared as though they had been inhabited for many years. Diet, weeds, broken RV awnings - just a complete eyesore. Some that did have sewer emitted putrid septic smells, all probably contributing to a rat problem. Last thing a camper needs is to pick up a rodent while paying a premium $90.00 per night for this disaster area. Dilapidated vehicles adorn these sites, as well broken down boats and things near the cost launch - the only real amenity, but due to the lack of control at the launch people were parked everywhere.

The campground could be very nice. Many trees and brush separate most campsites.
The site we stayed in would have been unbearable if the campground was full and the sites next to ours were also in use.
The largest and ugliest problem with this campground are the long term sites. There is so much crap stored in these tiny spots that they rob the beauty from everything nearby.

I rented a cabin under Thousand Trails the new Cabin Pass program. The La Conner park is very well maintained and the location is paradise for kayaking and beachcombing or as a base for day trips to Deception Pass, the San Juan islands, or shopping in the cute little towns of La Conner and Anacortes. The only downside to the park is no swimming pool. But the lodge is very large and comfortable and there is a nice spa. This is one of my favorite Thousand Trails parks.

The cabin was filthy! There was pet hair, dirt and dust everywhere. The bathroom tub and toilet was visibly dirty. There was a dirt ring around the tub, and dirt and urine around the toilet. The kitchen stove and refrigerator was also dirty. We didn't have linens on the bunk beds. We paid extra for towels and linens which we received upon arrival, after our negative encounter with the cleaning lady that scolded me for parking a second vehicle in front of our cabin, although other cabins had 2 vehicles as well. Overall, the location was great, but the facility was unimpressive.

This place had a great beach and easy access to it, it was so close. But the cost was insane ($90/night) and the bathrooms were the worst I have ever camped at, the spots could be a LOT better, the grounds/playgrounds/and put-put areas should be maintained better and look ALOT better for the price they are charging and amount of people that seem to stay there. We camp all the time and expected WAYY better with that price.

This is an okay campground. If you are local, from WA or OR, you will be less impressed, as I am. This is a Thousand Trails campground. Members can stay free and that is a big problem at this location. I am currently a FREE member (due to an RV purchase) and this review is based on two stays (Aug and Nov 2020). I will not come back, even for free. It is a great location, which is the reason it is popular. But if you are from the Northwest, you know that waterfront campgrounds are not that rare. It's in the forest, on the coast, 20 minutes from town. It would be great if there were not so many permanent residents here. There are many "personal sites" that look like homeless encampments. Also, we spoke to many who admit they stay 3 weeks, leave for a week, and return for 3 more weeks, repeatedly. It's really dumb. I guess that half of the people there are in the later situation in November 2020. It was less in August, but the dumpy sites were there at the time and have not changed. Clear violations of Thousand Trails' published guidelines. And, WHY are they allowing PERMANENT campers? Not our scene. On the upside, at least half the visitors are from out of state, which makes for more interesting conversations. Our kids love the location. This is on tribal land (Swinomish Tribe) and they dictate some rules which are annoying during the pandemic. ALL recreation facilities are still closed. Why can't I use my own horse shoes on their horse shoe area? So dumb... Also, in August when the local fire station had a sign out front saying fires were ok, this campground would not allow them, claiming they didn't want to monitor 300 fires. So what? Then at least update your website to say so! Management here seems to be poor, blaming everything on the tribe or Thousand Trails. There were at least a dozen sites out of service due to electrical problems on our last visit.

I believe it's safe to stay there. I have been going there for years. Don't know about the security cameras. I have never seen any drug deals or anything of the sort there. It's not noisy at all, I get a good night sleep every time I stay there. The "permanent" campers you are referring to are the leased camp sites. Thousand Trails lease sites out to folks and they can keep their RVs on that site year around and are allowed to put up sheds and decks, yes in my opinion it looks bad. I hope this answer is helpful.

The cabin we were in is a getaway cabin and had cooktop, oven, microwave, basically a full kitchen and I believe most or all cabins cottages have the same, however should verify before going. Also believe most or all have bar-be-cue unit. Good Luck

If you're a dedicated walker yes,it can be done, I think it's 5 miles. But the shoulder of the road is narrow and there's some curves. My fried walks her shepherd to town several times a visit. Myself, I drive haha!

Well given enough time, I suppose you could, but it is quite away from the campground. At 75 I didn't try.
