We had a great time staying at the Commander's Beach House in Port Townsend. I nearly always stay there when I sail in for a stop-over on the way to the San Juans. It's a short walk from the Hudson Point Marina. This time, we had two friends from Iowa that hadn't been to the PNW before. They were enjoying...

How can you beat this place! Wonderful innkeepers (Jim and Gail). Fabulous breakfasts, and oh, Lord, what a view. You are on the beach and next to the marina. The setting is spectacular, and for folks that might be getting up at night, check the Straits for the cruise ships returning to Seattle. They're lit up like Christmas Trees. We...

We enjoyed Jim and Gail's b&b so much, that one night turned into four nights. Our first day/night was so perfect that we could not bring ourselves to carry on with our road trip, Our luck ran out on day 5, The Cammander's Beach house had no vacancy. Port Townsend along with this gem of a B & B will...

Thanks to Jim and Gail, our stay at the B&B was a most relaxing stay. We choice this B&B because it is on the water. It was a pure delight to sit in the yard and enjoy the water. Our room had a view of the water and was very clean and comfortable. The B&B is also close to restaurants...

Thanks to Jim and Gail for the excellent atmosphere and congeniality. Friendly and meticulous at the same time. Sitting on the beach lawn is a true getaway and the nautical Schooner room was balm for my New England roots.

We returned once again to our favorite B&B and, as always, wished we could have stayed longer. Jim and Gail provide warm, caring hospitality; and as longtime and active residents, they will provide suggestions for local resources geared to one's interests. The superb waterfront location on Admiralty Inlet provides easy access to the beach, views of the Cascades, inspiring sunrises...

First and foremost, Jim and Gail are both good-natured, funny, helpful, and delightful people to be around. The breakfasts were awesome. They even invited my brother and sister-in-law, who live in PT, to join us for breakfast one day. The setting is peaceful and beautiful. The location is convenient to PT restaurants and shops.

This B&B is in an ideal beachfront location on Hudson Point, near restaurants and a marina and within easy walking distance of Port Townsend's historic main streets. All the rooms are clean and comfortable and three of them (the Lighthouse Suite, Island View Room, and Schooner Room) offer superb views. There's a spacious living room where excellent gourmet breakfasts are...

Relax in the adirondack chairs looking out over the water with the mountains in the background. We watched sea gulls and then to our delight noticed a bald eagle - magnificent. The B&B is welcoming, cozy and with delightful hosts! Port Townsend is a great little town - a variety of restaurants and shops to peruse while strolling through the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Commander's Beach House is the only bed and breakfast that is located right on the water in downtown Port Townsend. You can walk on the beach to Fort Worden or easily stroll three blocks along the water front to all of the downtown shops and restaurants. Three of our rooms face the water and have private baths. Our fourth room faces the garden and has a shared bath located inside of the room. You can enjoy views of Admiralty Inlet, Mt. Baker, Whidbey Island, all of the boats and ships that go into Seattle, as well as vintage wooden schooners and yawls. Eagles, herons, otters and seals are frequently seen by our guests. A full sit down gourmet breakfast is served at individual tables or on our veranda, weather permitting. Come fall asleep lulled by the sounds of the sea and "relax and solve nothing"! ... more   less
