On a recent trip to the Dordogn, I spent one night at this hotel. On my way back to Bordeaux, I stopped in again for dinner and another stay. September is late in the tourist season so it was pretty quiet but I was delighted with a delicious meal and
desert.

The restaurant is truly lovely and gourmet. Try their set menu gourmand. Wonderful.
The hotel is interesting, comfortable and good value. It's also within easy travelling distance of Bergerac airport.
But it's that magical dining experience that was my highlight.

I and my family recently attended a wedding reception here, our relatives found them whilst visiting the area, an by golly it was a lucky find! There were in excess of 60 of us, including about 10 vegetarians, but nothing phased the two brilliant owners, the food was superb, they were totally motivated to ensure a good time was had by all, we were a very mixed group from 2years old to 86! Everyone was looked after equally well! The rooms are good and the food is excellent, I would encourage anyone looking for a reception in France to seriously consider this place, Bergerac is 10 minutes by car and it's a very lovely area.

I stayed at this hotel for a night with a friend of mine. We found the atmosphere quiet although the banquet was going on when we arrived. Welcoming and friendly host. The hotel is easily accessible. Food was great and room was very comfortable. It was a wise choice.

I was driving by the hotel and decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed. The room was a reasonable size for a 3 star hotel and the breakfast served at 8:30 was aboundant. There were 4 other couples staying at the hotel and they all seemed happy with their meals.

We werent staying at La Villa but my partner and I were hoping to find a good restaurant whilst staying in a gite nearby. We decided to visit La Villa St Laurent for an evening meal, we definately werent dissapointed ! We enjoyed the gravlax salmon starter and the foix gras, for main we had the duck and the sirloin, and for dessert the rum baba and the cheeses, service was excellent from William with excellent choice selections on wine. After service we chatted with William and his partner Joseph ( who is the amazing chef), they are very sociable and knowledgable, we got on with them amazingly well.
We were so pleased with our experience we went back for lunch a few days later, and then we decided to return for our 'special' last night of holidays meal. Each time we dined there we were massively impressed by Josephs culinary skills and Williams attention to detail and expert guidance on the local wines. Thank you so much guys Elaine and I truly enjoyed your food and freindship !
If you are staying locally and want a fine dining experience just 2 km from Bergerac then look no further than La Villa St Laurent !

We ended up staying here by chance as our plane was delayed overnight from Bergerac. It actually ended up being a highlight of our holiday, despite spending two days in a tiny airport waiting for a broken plane either side of our stay!!
The owners are wonderfully eccentric, full of character and really make the place. Nothing was too much trouble and they were so entertaining we will definitely be back to France to stay with them again. The rooms were clean and full of french charm and character. The food was by far the best we had had during our stay in France, out of this world and far exceeding any expectations I had for a 3 star hotel.
Reading the few negative reviews on here I can see those are most probably people not on European holiday time timekeeping mode and probably don't appreciate the beauty of big or eccentric personalities, or indeed something a little different to the norm (they might have been better booking a travel lodge type). If you like bland personality-less chain like hotels it probably wouldn't be for you but if you want to experience a real french villa and enjoy fantastic personalities, service and exceptional food you must book in.

booked a room on a French website. I didn't see any mention that the room was meant for one and was so small we felt claustrophobic so we were shown the only other room that was available which was a 1/3 more and although spacious the design and state of the room and bathroom was not what we are used to. Some may like it but we didn't feel comfortable at all but we just used it as a place to stay for 100 euros per night. We leant that other friends staying nearby had a much nicer place with breakfast for less. There were no tea and coffee facilities or water in the room. The room floor sank in the middle. The bathroom pipes kept us awake at night. The only lighting in the bathroom was one light above the sink mirror. The toilet paper holder fell off the wall when touched. There was only shampoo provided and a bar of soap so it was lucky I brought shower gel. The owners were friendly enough but we really didn't want to stay here. We were asked to pay the balance of the original room and the upgrade in cash which cost us bank fees. There was ample parking and the place could be nice but it does need to money and time spending on it.

My wife and I recently stayed here after a long drive from Spain. It says that check in is from 1500hrs, we arrived at about 1545 hrs and we're told that our room was not available until 1730hrs so could we come back! At this point we should have declined and looked elsewhere, but we didn't. When we returned we were shown to a room which was quite small with adjoining wet room, however the louvred door to the wet room had a louvre missing, not what is expected ! We were told that dinner would be served from 1930hrs. After having a shower and changing we went into what was a small lounge hoping to get a drink.Eventually what we presumed to be the owner appeared and we asked if we could have a drink but we're told that he had a couple of rooms to prepare and he would be back in about 30 mins. I should point out that we had been asked to pay when we checked in as we were told that it would not be easy in the morning, otherwise I think that we would have left there and then! Eventually we got our drink and went into dinner. The food was absolutely excellent and certainly deserved to be in a 5 star restuarant. The following morning we arrived for breakfast at 0830hrs but the place was deserted, after about 5 minutes the owner appeared saying that he had overslept so breakfast was not yet ready, however he did offer us some bread and coffee ! We declined, asking him to reduce the cost of our dinner by the price of breakfast, he did this without even offering a discount for our disappointment. When we booked this hotel in March of this year we did look at TripAdvisor , but having looked again we notice that the comments are a little out of date.

Avoid at all cost this travellers with no maners at all ... People like you should not stay in a 3 stars hotel like us expecting a 5 stars service. And above all booking the economic bedroom ! Also you could not even appreciate the free upgrade to a much better room... And I did all that to please you and in return you give me crap !!! What a gentleman !!!

Large, clean homely rooms, different from other boxy hotels. Food is to die for and first class service. Home for home,, the owners know how to look after their guests. Will definitely be going again.. Has my highest recommendation.
