Pros- * Loved the Golf Cart Tour for my five year old. Such a scenic drive around the resort area and course. Highly recommend. * Lobby Attendant Autumn was really kind. We had a small HSK issue and she wrote me a note letting me know she handled it. What a nice simple touch that went a long way. What a great and kind employee. I happened to bump into her at the pool area as well and she was working her tail off. * Appreciated the birthday treat left in my room. Thank you! * The pool is great as it’s a combo of indoor and outdoor and open late! The view is unmatched. * there were two weddings going on. I was impressed with your staff running the function. We waited a few minutes in the hallway so we did not have to walk through the wedding which was in the lobby. I was impressed how a hotel wedding planner come up to us to thank us for being so respectful toward the bride and groom and not walk through their wedding. During the Golf Cart tour, one of the staff looked for us on the trail to ask us to take a different route so we did not cross the path of the outdoor wedding. Very thoughtful of him to do that for them. * The grounds are very pretty due to the greenery and lake. We enjoyed sitting outside taking all of the scenery in. Very well maintained. * Your s’mores kits are adorable. * Excellent Caesar salad and strawberry cheesecake at Stillwater’s. All servers very nice. * FD staff very kind as well as al of the F&B staff. You are so lucky to have such a great staff. We really loved our servers in Stillwater’s. Great job. * I really enjoyed my massage from Tiffany. Sweet employee. * loved all the outdoor activities available. Cons- * You reservation department is not good at follow up . I emailed for an updated confirmation email as I changed my date and they sent me a note simply saying it was confirmed. I wanted a real confirmation. When I checked out, my rate was wrong from what she quoted me on the phone. (Which is why I asked for a confirmation just in case). They had a record and fixed it. I had also emailed reservations asking about an activity with no reply back. I reached out on Facebook and got a reply right away. They had the reservation agent call me back and she was very short. * The steak at Stillwater’s was gross. We ordered a strip steak and it was 75% fat and I could not eat it. My whole plate was the fat. We also ordered the pork belly. I know this is a fattier dish but it was literally a piece of fat fried and no meat. My friend had the same cut and had the same issue. She thought maybe it was the ribeye we got served instead. * I saw after our meal and paying that children eat free if they are five and under. This did not happen for us and no one offered that perk for out little guy for dinner and lunch but it’s advertised. * Your website and email confirmations talk about the resort fee which includes the shuttle, steam, and sauna. None of this was available due to Covid. I get it it’s closed but remove it from your website and emails as we planned on the shuttle and using the steam and sauna. They also park the shuttle right in front of the hotel. Why do that if you are not running it? * The playground was closed with a note that it was out of order. Thought that was strange. It looked perfect. Maybe a Covid thing and the sigh should be updated closed due to Covid? * They should find a way to open the steam and sauna if you have a massage. I get Covid but other resorts have. Maybe a reservation system if you booked a treatment ? It takes away from the whole experience not having this area. Nice to put on a robe and relax prior. * AC was not the best in the room. * there was a sign offering valet and we just sat there. No one ever came. Suggestions- (1) the Golf Cart tour was great. You should really advertise for it in your website. We only learned about it via the paper we got at check in. I am glad I read this info sheet. I told a few employees how much we enjoyed it and they told me they did not know about it. (2) You should sell bottles water at the bar and not have to walk to Front Desk. (3) You need another fire pit. It was packed. Bottom line- great hotel with a few expected hiccups and I would 100% come back.

While most of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic resort destinations are bogged down with COVID Restrictions, the Stonewall Resort in West Virginia is open for business with only a few minor restrictions. The swimming pool is open by reservation capped at 75...which is plenty. No daily maid service, but the staff clears trash and replaces towels as needed. Restaurant is 50% capacity but takes reservations which are highly recommended. We ate at 7 every night the service was very good. But we’re glad we set reservations about a week before our arrival. For those less prone to plan ahead, we observed a steady flow of take out orders, and the outdoor seating looked comfortable. Stonewall is VERY family friendly. We observed many families with young children, but we were also able to keep our 14 and 18 year olds busy. The water sports outfitting with paddle boards, kayaks, and canoes was well managed. I highly recommend renting a pontoon boat from the marina... again we call ahead for reservations. The boats are very nice and clean. The marina staff was excellent, and you can look forward to feeding the mob of pet fish off the marina docks. We started several days with 3-4 mile hikes on the well marked hiking trails. There are both easy and challenging treks. I didn’t golf on this trip, but the course from the road looked well manicured, and a little skinny in a few spots, so bring your straight game. Prior to visiting Stonewall we had cancelled a cruise, and a trip to Arizona... and we’re all trying to figure out where to vacation this year, under the cloud of COVID. We found Stonewall by accident, but it ended up an extraordinary blessing. For our family it’s unanimous, and we’ll return to Stonewall... next time on purpose.

We stayed, for the first time, in the campground at stonewall last weekend. The campground was well-maintained, the bathrooms were cleaned, and the scenery was beautiful! It cost a bit more to stay here, but they make it worth the money. There is a bridge you can walk across to get to the lodge, we can find all the other amenities of the park, including kayak and canoe rentals, bike rentals, golf and an indoor pool. There are several restaurants on site so you don’t need to ever leave the park. We took several hikes and the Trails are well-maintained and marked. Overall a wonderful visit.

The grounds were beautiful. We went with a group of friends for a weekend getaway. Unfortunately it rained most of the day on Saturday. There was no entertainment the weekend we went, which was disappointing. I bet it would have been more fun if there was a murder mystery dinner or dueling pianos. We called two weeks in advance and all the spa appointments were already booked. Not much to do otherwise. The fire pit was nice. Food at TJ Muskies was excellent. The dinner buffet at Stillwaters was just OK and prices were very expensive, I wouldn't recommend it. Breakfast buffet was good. The beds are very hard and uncomfortable. Overall, for the price we paid I was hoping for more entertainment and things to do, but it was like a ghost town at the end of April. Maybe summertime is better.

We absolutely loved our stay at Stonewall. The kayaking, bike riding, and hiking was great. The hotel room was nice and beds were comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful.. Food and drinks at TJ Muskies was good, especially loved their nachos. We really enjoyed spending time around the firepit meeting people from different states and laughing and having a good time. Definitely plan on going back!
