The property really exudes a turn-of-a-century vibe and feels like you are in Maine or upstate NY. There are bountiful wildflower gardens around the island and a robust vegetable garden grows by the clay tennis courts. The views of Red Cedar Lake from any side of the island are breathtaking. As my 10 yr old said when we walked out... More

The island, the lodge and room were beautiful. Unfortunately the food service was almost inept. Many mistakes made, they were good at comp'ing the big ones but they shouldn't have been made in the first place. The food itself was hit or miss, some very good, some lousy.

I stayed here with my kids and had a fantastic time. We ate all of our meals there and were taken care of at every turn. Our room was really more like our own cabin and was comfortable and spacious. The customer service was top notch from the second that I got on the ferry to the second we stepped... More

We have visited multiple times and this year planned a trip for the extended family to join us. The pressure is on when you convince family to drive 7 hours to be together. After four beautiful days, everyone had the same sentiment....we need to do this every year! The staff and surroundings are truly special. How nice was it to... More

The island itself is absolutely beautiful. The smells of flowers and nature are the best. We stayed in Gardner 2 and I was mildly dissapointed as it was run down a bit. Paint peeling from walls, back porch not maintained. The food was over priced and not very good at all. We ate there twice then after 250 dollars we... More

We had a group of 23 adults, teens, and kids and we stayed here for five relaxing, and fun days! Great staff, nice accommodations, and a beautiful island location. It's close to MSP and easy to get on and off the island for adventures in Wisconsin.

We absolutely loved it. No TV in the rooms, view of the lake from practically everywhere. Peaceful but lots to do if you wanted to. We loved the character of the buildings, the architecture, the beauty of everything from the lodge to the boathouse to the rooms themselves. It was a quiet, beautiful peaceful setting to reconnect with one another.... More

The location itself is beautifully located. As many have mentioned it truly feels like you are in a different era. The history of the island itself is impressive. The decor and charm of the " disconnected" city life. There is one place to use wifi and connection is horrible throughout the lodge. I believe there is one television also. So... More

I was really looking forward to a family stay at Stout’s Lodge and even though the two cabins were going to cost a total of +600 a night, I was willing to pay that for a special travel experience, figuring that it would be worth it. And now, after just returning, I feel as if I have been ripped off.... More

Dear KLS227, We are so sorry that you had this experience. Clearly we fell down on the job in multiple areas. There’s simply no excuse for the breakfast situation. We usually have two servers in the morning and that weekend one of them was a new server getting trained in. In hindsight, we should have added a third, knowing that... More

To celebrate my 80th, my wife and I escaped to Stout's Island. It was an outstanding experience--just relax, hike, watch lawn games, water activities, and enjoy fine food. We recommend the escape from newspapers, television to just RELAX.
