We had a well equipped unit and w the exception of a sticky screen door everything w well maintained. Overall the resort has declined over the years we have been coming. No fishing boats (row boats), sand needs refreshing, and prices are getting very expensive. We love the location and beach is perfect for young children. They need a place to rinse off feet when leaving the sandy beach. Hopefully they better address recycling also. We love WEL and the helpful staff. The grounds are well maintained. We have been coming for many years!

A wonderful place especially for a family vacation! We have been coming for many years and enjoy the variety of different activities on the property; however there are also many great opportunities for outdoor adventures nearby such as hiking and biking. The resort provides canoes and kayaks, as well as pontoon boats for rent on site, and includes a large sandy swimming beach area great for everyone to hang out. There's also swing seats for quiet reading and relaxing along the walking path around the property, looking out to Duck or Lynx Lakes. Multiple families can gather at the picnic/fire pit spots, and grill out for a meal together. The accommodations are very comfortable and our experience is that they are nicely furnished; the kitchen has just enough to make simple meals and not too much stuff that space is cluttered and you risk losing your own stuff in the mix! You will want to plan ahead for the summer if you need to rent the larger units, as its a popular time for families to come.

Great value for your money in September. The resort condos have a north woods feel, are clean and spacious. Most (or maybe all?) units have a view of the lake and it is just a beautiful view/property. Great amenities. We rent a pontoon every year and it is great touring the chain of lakes. We would love it if the pontoon were available for shorter periods of time (rather than a full day) as the full day price is a bit high.

We have stayed at the Eagles Nest Home for the 3rd consecutive year with our family of 10.

While the location is hard to beat and the space is ample, there are several things to be aware of.

First the upkeep and cleanliness of the property continues to be on the decline. The sinks are all clogged, the tub doesn't drain. The Restaurant is still not up and running despite a launch date of last Wednesday.

The amenities including bedding/pillows as well as toiletries are not up to par for the price you are paying. The soap provided doesn't make suds and is paper thin. This led us to buy our own, as it would not last the week, not to mention a couple days. The toilet paper and paper towels are of the poorest quality for $1700 per night.

Overall a nice resort with a great location. Ample docks for our boats. Minutes from all the action in Eagle River, but very quiet and private to boot.

For the money, the value is not quite there.
The check-out of 9am on a Sunday is quite shameful. Check-in is 4pm and Check-out is 9am which essentially means you have been charged for a full day while being denied 7 hours of your paid stay.

Sadly this will be our last stay. There is much better value with renting a home.
The resort needs to invest some time and money into improving the property.

The General Manager responds only to emails and questions of his choosing.

This is an outstanding location for a family to enjoy the best of what eagle river has to offer. Close to everything you need. right on the chain with boat rentals was an awesome time for my family. Having a private beach with a pool was also easy to help navigate our kids as they were keeping us on the run. Plenty of opportunity for family activities located on this property. we will be back, but not without me talking to management about the poor, and I mean poor mattresses. we stayed here for eight days and literally my wife was crying because her back is so sore at the age of 42. This particular condo was one that the management company owned, and was not privately owned like some of the other condos. You need to do better. This was not a relaxing vacation because of lack of sleep because the mattresses were so terrible. The furniture and chairs that recline were broken and some of the shades need to be fixed, which do not allow ultimate privacy to our family during those eight days for what you’re paying. This property needs to do better. We are looking at purchasing one of your properties and it’s going to be difficult to make a decision of all the other properties throughout the eagle river area. If the management can’t realize how important it is to have nice mattresses for their guests.

We've stayed at Wild Eagle Lodge annually for many years, and really appreciate the location on the Chain of Lakes, availability to rent a pontoon boat on site (extra cost), use canoes and kayaks (included). Also, the indoor pool and tennis courts, Blue Heron restaurant are fun and convenient amenities. Swimming beach is always clean and large enough for folks to enjoy.

Our visit started with a quick check-in and unpacking in our rooms. The condo was clean, as were the linens and kitchen dishes and appliances. Having a fireplace in the evening was a treat, and the furniture was comfortable and positioned well. We were happy to have the washing machine and dryer and all we needed to keep the unit clean while we were there. We enjoyed walking the pathways around the resort and sitting on the piers and watching the sun set. The kids loved the pool with its splash pad/wading pool as well as the regular pool. We had a great time and for us the location is great because we like to travel to other places Up North--Boulder Junction, Minocqua/Woodruff, Land O' Lakes, and Manitowish Waters. We will definitely be back!

Wild Eagle Resort is great vacation for people of all ages Lots of stuff for kids, same goes for adults to do. ESPECIALLY great for seniors like me who have to use a walker all the time. All walking paths are paved, first floor units no steps, unit had a low step in shower, rental of pontoon boat on site so you can go out on the lakes.

Very nice well-stocked apartment-like accommodations. Grounds and common area facilities very nice. We felt comfortable letting older elementary age kids have a pretty good run of the grounds. Lots of activities to keep them busy. Staff very comfortable to work with as I rented 11 rooms of various sizes. Others in our wedding party also rented rooms and all the feedback I got was that they were all very pleased with the facilities and the stay there.

We take one vacation a year and hauled our pontoon 3 1/2 hours which isn’t cheap these days. We thought to get there early to find a dock and go fishing but it started raining and colder temps when we arrived. We checked to see if possible to get into our room early but receptionist said she didn’t know how housekeeping worked and apparently no communication with them. We left for lunch in town and came back later. We noticed housekeeping had moved to another room and hoped ours was ready. We arrived around 12:30 with with boat and didn’t get a text from housekeeping until 3:24. This was after we changed into warmer clothes in the main lodge and reception and housekeeping were there laughing. I’ve been in customer service my entire life and have never been treated with this much indifference. We were not offered to go to the pool and the restaurant there was closed. Very disappointing start to what we thought was going to be a great getaway. Plus we were charged an additional $60 mystery guest service fee.

Nancy, Thank you for your comments and I am sorry that you felt we did not appreciate your visit. I do want to go into a little detail to hopefully clear some of the confusion with your check-in. We do use a outside service to clean the condos, and they go through their steps to make sure the rooms are ready, we don't know the schedule they follow for when they do individual rooms or when the inspectors for the units will go through. Basically they call rooms up when they have been cleaned and inspected and we can check in guests, if that's before the 4pm check in time we check guests in early. I'm sorry that this process was not fully explained better so you understood what was going on to start your vacation with us, and why the cleaners left the room but it still took time to get the green light from the inspector. We do have a small in-house housekeeping staff that cleans the common areas and folds linens, but does not do any room cleaning, that would be who you encountered in the front office. I do want to say you should have been offered a pool key to change or to use that facility, I will talk to the staff to be sure that we do make that offer in the future. The $60 fee was the resort fee, this is shown on your registration and is mentioned when making a reservation. I hope this clears up the issues you had during your stay, again I do understand how frustrating these miscommunications can be, especially at the beginning of a stay. I hope we see you again. Thank you, Justin

Pet friendly?
Answer from Visitchicago
Park Ridge, Illinois6 contributions
Only folks who own units at the lodge can bring pets, and only if that unit is not in the rental program. If both these criteria are met, then a pet under 25 pounds is allowed So the short answer is generally no you can’t bring a pet. Service animals are allowed, but I would call Wild Eagle Lodge just in case to get a confirmation; it may be only for certain units that service animals are allowed. I hope that helps!

Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, Wild Eagle Lodge does not allow pets on the premises. For several various reasons, we cannot allow pets on our property. However, we do have a few local kennels we can recommend for your beloved pet. Please feel free to contact us if you have any additional questions or if we can assist you with finding a kennel.
