Merci.

We had a wonderful stay at the farm "L'Escapade au Walestru". This family-owned farm only has 2 guests rooms, but they take really good care of you and make sure you are comfortable. The smaller of the two rooms (room "Poésie") is perfect for a couple, cosy and well heated (we were there in November). The decoration is "romantic" (small hearts everywhere, candles), which not everyone will like, but you can feel the rooms and dining area have been decorated with great care. Michèle, whose husband manages the farm and who launched the concept of guest rooms in 2012, is very friendly and welcoming. This is a family project, with her son working in the kitchen and her daughter helping serve the dinner. If you stay there I definitely recommend going for the dinner ("tâble d'hôte"). The food is local, delicious and very reasonably priced (no hidden 'extras'). The breakfast is also awesome. You need a car to access the farm, but the location is otherwise convenient next to interesting sights and attractions (Chimay, the Lacs de l'Eau d'Heure etc.). Michèle and her husband will also be happy to show you around the farm if you are interested.

A fuir !

The main reason we give a below average rating is the price you pay for what you get.
The chambres d'hotes is ok, but in comparison to other places we stayed, we found the price way too high.
The first impression we had when we arrived, was that of a messy, not well mantained old farm. But we gave it the benifit of the doubt, hoping for some charming interior.
Our room, Poésie, was rather small and cold. The bed is really too small for 2 adults. Also the bathroom is pretty compact. The decoration however was cosy.
For the food we would like to give a very good rating. We had a wonderfully delicous dinner at night. Plentiful and tasteful from amuse to desert. Also the breakfast was great, with homemade products and freshly baked pie and bread. Enough variation as well.
The service too was very good. A very friendly and caring lady.
What we missed was the possibility of having something to drink during the day. Some sort of a mini self service bar in the common area could be a plus.
All in all a chambres d'hotes from which we expected more given the price we payed.

The L'Escapade is situated in a remote and calm place near Froidchapelle. A bit tricky to find at night but trust your navigation system. The hosts are very friendly and give a broad selection of tourist information. The breakfeast is a MUST. The landlady spoiled us every day with a different selection of cheeses freshly homemade pies or tartes - sweet or salty - with a focus on the regional products. Try it! Our sons stayed in a private hut with solar shower and biological toilet. The parents' room was a nicely decorated almost Mediterranean room. All with tea cooking facilities. The guests also have access to a nice winter garden with a view on lawns, horses, cows, cats, the sound of a small fountain in the background and of the birds giving you a lullabye. If you need a rest from all the city noise: this is a very good place to stay.
