My wife and I and a friend stayed at River's Bend last August. We considered the Inn and Innkeeper/Owner Jayne a fabulous find, as we appreciated a place with an interesting history, and conversion with Jayne, who has lived a full and fascinating life. She is in her lower 90's, and does a fine job of managing the Inn and even preparing a quite full and enjoyable breakfast. All this, and rates are really modest.

We received a gift certificate to stay at this charming Bed & Breakfast, and had the run of the house. There was one other guest who just needed a bed to sleep, he came in late and left before the sun rise, we never heard him, even though we did smell the fresh coffee brewing... Jayne is the original owner of the Inn, she has many stories and everything in that house, from the paperweights to the panel that was painted for one of the presidents. Speaking about presidents, Jayne once dated John F Kennedy before he was engaged to Jackie. Just hearing her stories and purchasing her book, it was a a trip down a historical yet entertaining road. The rooms were all decorated with period antiques, or family treasures or mementos from many of Jayne's travels. The beds were comfy, the bathrooms clean and the towels are soft. "Noodles", the Poodle, is there to greet you , and like Jayne, can be your best friend and keep you company or leave you alone to relax. If you came here to unwind , relax and just sit and read in the large parlor, this Inn will fill your niche. The grounds are filled with trees and there is a pathway to the river, along with a dock to sit on . We visited in January, and Jayne still had her Christmas decorations up, added the sparkly touch to the winter landscape. jayne also was ready to give suggestions for dinner, either ready to order for delivery or sending us on our way to a wonderful Italian restaurant. The breakfast in the morning was homemade waffles, toast and jam, fresh danish and juice with a pot of fresh coffee. All the food was served in the formal dining room and on the vintage china. We couldn't have been happier with our stay with Jayne at River's Bend Inn.

A friend has stayed with Jayne for years and recommended her place to us. We can understand why! Tranquil. Good value. Near the Marsh and lots of other area attractions. Jayne herself is an attraction--born in the area, led an amazing life in the larger world, and returned. Her stories are entertaining (and preserved in a lovely book, too). An elegant woman and her inn reflects that as well.

This is nice little place in Mayville, Wisconsin with a wonderful atmosphere and a great location. The Inn is an old house set along a scenic river, and the area is quiet, reclusive, and exclusive. Definitely recommend it!

I have never had such a terrible experience in my life. I called 2 weeks in advance to reserve a room. I called again 2 days before our stay to verify our stay. My girlfriend and I had a bird watching tour early that morning. We enjoyed our tour and then went to check in. When we got there, no one was home. I called and left a message. We went to a local coffee shop to have lunch. After we had lunch, we went back to check in again and still no one was there. I was very upset as I had taken time off of work to get away. We also had to put our dogs in doggy day care. As you can see, we had a lot of expense and time in this trip. We decided to head back home as it had already been 3 hours without any response. We drove home and got unpacked and were sitting watching tv when my phone rang, this is 7 hours after our initial check in time! She sounded confused about the date, even saying that when she changed the calendar for the new month she forgot to write our reservation down. She told me she was stuck in traffic after dropping her son off at the airport! This is 2014, why did she not have a cell phone or call me to let me know that she was out of town? I thought if you own a business you would be more responsible and reliable! I have never experienced such a terrible event as this one! I would never ever even think about allowing anyone to stay here! I cannot believe this could ever happen in this day and age! DO NOT GO HERE!
