We recently stayed at the Waters of Minocqua for five nights. Upon our arrival, we were told that the room type we requested was not available on an upper floor, which we had noted on our reservation request. The receptionist worked with us and we were upgraded to a much larger room, in fact, a two bedroom suite, for approximately $100 more for our entire five nights stay. The facilities are very clean. We brought our granddaughters to the waterpark for one night and they had a great time. Very kid friendly. I would definitely go back again. The hotel was also approximately 1 mile from the downtown area and there were two restaurants very nearby.

The hotel is very inviting when you enter the lobby. Upon entering our room, we were greeted by torn carpet in front of the door, and an odor. Not sure if it was dog or what. Our room had 2 queen beds with a sofa sleeper- we opened that up to find a very worn thin mattress and broken springs. One of which fell out. The bed pillows were hard- we asked for more, but were told there were more in our room (there were none) and they were out of them. Behind the headboard of the bed we found socks from a previous occupant. It was obvious that space had not been checked or cleaned. Two of the 4 drawers could be opened but not closed. There was a mirror positioned behind the tv, that rendered it useless. The TV is one of the smallest we have encountered in hotels- our room had 2 queen beds, so it was not easy for everyone to watch. The hotel boasts having an arcade, when in fact it is nothing short of a rip off, Between the price of the games, and the few points you get, let alone the prizes- the number of tickets pales in comparison to what is paid out by the machines. The pool area is another thing. Upon entering there was a strong odor- we couldn't tell what it was (not chlorine). The facade around the pool is falling off. The nightly room rate pre AARP discount was $289- we paid $260 per night with that discount- we stayed 3 nights and wound up paying close to $800. The room, despite the time of year was overpriced given the overal condition of it. We make yearly trips to Minocqua- our girls weekend. Prior, we have always looked forward to staying at The Waters. We have made the decision to spend next year elsewhere. Some of the things we encountered at the hotel seem like nobody has been paying attention to the aging of this hotel- things not being painted, repaired, replaced., yet the price has been jacked up.

We stayed here March 4- March 7. The 2 hour drive was nice and scenic. We arrived and checked in on a Thursday night. We presented our gift certificates and let our 2 young kids run around in the lobby after the drive. At check in the manager on duty (Wil Campbell) helped check us into the hotel. They honored our gift certificates at face value (thank you so much!) We stayed in a double Queen room which had a sofa bed and a balcony overlooking the sunrise. The beds were comfortable and soft. The heater and A/C worked exceptionally well and warmed our room up after the pool and cooled us down before bed time. The showers had some Paul Mitchell tea tree oil shampoo and conditioner and was refreshing. The pool area is warm, the water is heated and very toasty for kids and adults alike. The hot tub starts inside and curves around to the outside. The water slide is open Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Their is a little snack bar in the pool area though we never used it because we brought our own snacks and drinks to the pool area. Our kids loved the warm water and the arcade right across from the pool. The pub offers a nice variety of food on sight and the staff was friendly and helpful. There is also a coffee shop/gift shop by the lobby. Overall our stay was amazing and we had a really great time. We were impressed and happy to get out of the house with a 2 and 4 year old. We loved our time here and will be back in the future!

We have stayed here before but was very disappointed with this stay. Ashtray was not emptied, stains on sheets, mold in bathroom, light on balcony hadn't been cleaned in a long time and carpet was filthy and smelled up the room. Beds also sunk in the middle. Not sure why they have ashtrays if this a non smoking facility. Upon booking we were not informed that there was a modified breakfast and no housekeeping and the rate was not adjusted. Also very few staff were wearing masks and cleaning common touched areas was non exisent. It was very expensive. Look elsewhere if you are looking for a clean, safe stay.

We stayed at the Waters of Minocqua on June 1-3rd 2021. It is a Great place being close to the Island City of Minocqua. I worked up North for 4 years so know the area very well. We hung the clean the room sign on the door and waited came back several times to later find out when I went to the service counter at 5 pm to tell them our wastebaskets were full and was told to put them outside the door. We needed hand towels and the room was not clean. The counter said there was a sign where you check-in, but this was not pointed out to us when we checked in. They only clean the room when you leave. We were not happy. Our room was on the far right and during the day the GunRange noise was very noticeable too. don't stay on the end as we did.

I originally booked my stay with another hotel, only to arrive and find out that at the time of booking, I was inaccurately told information. A pool was important to me, so I changed my reservation to The Waters, where the pools are open, they’re serving breakfast, the arcade is open and their restaurant is open.
This is my 5th or 6th time staying here in the last 8 years and things have improved. The hotel is clean, the price is reasonable, the rooms are up to date (I recommend asking for a room on the 3rd floor where you’ll have a nice loft ceiling, making the room feel even more spacious), and they have expanded their pool area.
The water park consists of 4 areas, an indoor/outdoor pool that is 3-3’6” deep with basketball hoops, a splash pad area that is 4”-1’6” deep with different water features, 2 slides that you need to be at least 48” tall for and an amazing, huge indoor/outdoor hot tub. They also have concessions available that are, for a hotel and water park, reasonably priced, but the hours are hit or miss.
Typically, they have breakfast every morning from 6-10am that includes make your own waffles, but right now the choices are a little limited due to Covid. The do have coffee available 24/7 though in the breakfast area.
Their in house restaurant, The Pub, is reasonable and food is good. They have excellent pizzas there.
My only complaint is that they are not cleaning rooms during your stay, even with staying for 4 nights! When we need towels or other items, you have to go to the front desk and ask for them and garbage just piles up. One thing I enjoy about hotel stays is having my bed made up for me and when you’re traveling with kids, no matter how hard you try, the room really needs a little touch up...at least every other day. It seems to be a way for them to cut costs and blame it on Covid. The water park hours are also shortened and they aren’t doing any cleaning of hard surfaces throughout the day as recommended for pools and that I’ve seen at every other pool this summer.
But, I still give them 5 stars for making the effort to have all areas of the hotel open for guests.
Added picture of sign they have on elevator due to absurdity of the idea that families are going to use it one person at a time.

The employees that work at the hotel were nice and friendly, but this was the only redeeming quality—rooms were disgusting. The couch had a huge hole in it, the coffee table had a broken leg, there was a huge tear in carpet and every surface in the room was sticky. The porch area was nice, but again it was filthy. There were cob webs with dead bugs covering the side of the building, cigarette butts on the deck and everything again was just dirty. We were there for four nights and never had our room cleaned. They emptied one garbage can daily and exchanged a few towels once. We have small kids so a more thorough cleaning and maybe a vacuum after two days would have been great. It’s also very ballsy to have a tip envelope out for house keeping when the room was never clean…ever. The pool was ok—it would have been nice if the outdoor area was bigger. Everything was old and blah. I wouldn’t stay here again.

We booked this room on their online Website about 2 weeks ahead of time- early June. It advertised breakfast, but because of the Covid-19 (I am assuming) it was nothing more than coffee and store wrapped snacks off to the side of the lobby. A very limited selection. We paid $189.54 for one night. The room and facilities were nice, though there was a decent amount of repairs that needed to be done to the outside pool area. It has potential to live up to its hefty cost. When we received our Credit Card Statement, we saw that they went ahead and charged us a second time for an overnight, only this time, it was only $98.54. Hmmm? Beware of their online site that bumps up the cost, obviously!!! I called the hotel and was told that the second charge was an error, and they would refund us the second charge. Well... they did, but only $93.54. I won't bother them for $5, but heads up to those considering this place. They like to eat your money.

Overall, this is a fun place to stay. However, this time they hadn’t vacuumed our room. Our service dog in training found gummy bears, bottle caps, kids candy and other dangers on the floor. We shared this with the front desk and they weren’t that concerned. I’ll think twice about staying here again and need to request they be sure to vacuum our room before we check in.

The location of this hotel is excellent. Located just minutes from downtown it offers easy access to Minocqua but away from noises. Easy to reach as it sits just off the interstate 51. Our room was facing the interstate and I am pretty sensitive to noises, nevertheless I had a great night sleep. I compared the location to any other hotel in town and I would not book in other places. Also the staff was very friendly, Kathy checked us in and honor my wish for a certain room (my birthday) and was very pleasant and offered assistance in info about town/activities. The breakfast was limited due to the Covid but we were able to have hard boiled eggs, yogurt, bagels, coffee, juices. The water park is nice, the hot tub is huge, goes from the inside to the outside. There are several pools depending on age of kids/adults. There is an arcade which I thought being a nice addition if you have kids. Also there is a pub inside of the hotel if you don't like to go outside to eat and a Starbucks as well !! All you need in one location.
The room was spacious, and clean. I had a great stay and will be back again!

Is there a waterslide for older children (ages 10 and 12) available in December?
Answer from Joseph H
Beavercreek, Ohio1,455 contribution560 helpful votes
The waterslide is for anyone 48 inches or taller. There is a water fountain pool for small children, probably those aged 6 and under. Again, anyone at least 48" tall can use and enjoy the waterslide. Note the hotel's website - the waterpark is closed 1-10 Nov 2021, as well as 14 Nov 2021.

I was there for a wedding and stayed at a different hotel because it was full so I am not sure if they have changing rooms in the pool area. The hotel itself is so big and beautiful. So many amenities. Call them to find out. Have fun

I believe the Waters allows pets at an extra charge. I would reserve early, rooms that time of year book up fast and expect to pay the "peak season" rates. Try Groupon to get a better deal.
