This place is a true gem. We stayed as a family of 4 with 2 young kids in a 2 BR cabin and it was a wonderful vacation. The cabins were clean and well-equipped. The beach and lake are gorgeous. They had plenty of activities to occupy our small kids. We are at the restaurant and it was delicious. You can’t beat their brandy old fashion! Don’t go here expecting a 5 star Marriott accommodations. The service is friendly and on point, but the accommodations are dated. I grew up swimming in the pool and I’m pretty sure the pool area hasn’t been updated since the 80s. The mattresses were definitely older, but everything is sparkling clean and comfortable. The couch and chairs were clean and new. Bring water. You don’t want to drink the tap water (This is true of the whole town-well water is full of iron). The restaurant and bars don’t open before 5 so bring food or plan a trip to town your first day there. We rented a boat and it was also a more rustic experience, but for what it cost I’m not complaining. The beach area is shallow and perfect for young kids and sand castle building. Our cabin was a bit further out, but still easy enough walk to the lodge/pool/playground. There was a great field in back for the kids to run around on and a much older playground area that is in questionable condition, but fine with no parent supervision. All in all a great 3 day vacation!

made reservations for a getaway weekend with my wife a week before our trip on Travelocity, received a confirmation from Travelocity immediately. when we arrived at resort they claimed they did not have a reservation for us! the king/whirlpool suite we reserved was occupied! the girl at the check in offered us a different room{2 queen beds) for the first night and said she would talk to manager to see what was available for the second night. Never heard back from her or manager! stopped at front desk again at checkout to give them an opportunity to make it right, but they offered no explanation for mix up and claimed to offer a discount on the room we ended up with which was higher than I could have booked that room online when I made original res. not good customer service!

Holiday Acres goes back for several generations. My father and mother in law met and got engaged on it's grounds. His family has been visiting the resort at least annually for some 50 something years.... When it was time for our nuptials,my husband and I looked at dozens of venues but could not beat the beauty and the value that Holiday Acres afforded. The wedding planners (Gladys and Kyleigh) were very attentive to make our day very special, with a lot of details. We had quite a few picky eaters (Gluten intolerant, vegan, auto-immune paleo, etc.) and they were able to design a wonderful menu that met all of the guest's needs. Kyleigh suggested a local baker who made some wonderful northwoods themed cupcakes, and we had a hodag and white bulldog caketopper atop a birchbark cake. Everyone drank old school northwoods drinks like old fashioneds and bloody marys all night long and the party is still legendary, 2 years later I still have people tell me it was the best wedding they have ever been to. Most of that credit goes to Holiday Acres. The food was delicious the service was impeccable, the resort was clean and tidy, etc. The staff even accommodated our request to place a goodie bag in each room (each specifically labeled with individualized goodies) for our travelers from afar. The Three Coins Restaurant is a gorgeous location, with the quarter-sawn oak walls, the driftwood chandeliers, the beautiful oil landscapes, and the gorgeous view of the fall colors in the adjoining meadow. Whether for a wedding or just for dinner, it cannot be beat. I love making my wish with the three pennies each time too! (and yes, the staff did place 3 pennies on each place setting for our guests). We stayed in the jacuzzi room for the wedding night, which was quite spacious and romantic. The room was absolutely huge, compared to similar rooms at the Khalahari (the Dells) or Blue Harbor Resort (Sheboygan), it was just as nice if not nicer. We had a guest who was severely disabled (bound to a wheelchair) and they were able to navigate very well. One of the rooms on the first floor has grab bars, etc., making it ideal for that special need. I had several other guests just on walkers/with canes and they were all able to navigate fine form their rooms on the first floor as well. Some of our guests stayed in the nearby cabins, and had an absolute blast. Now the decor and the look of the place is definitely a blast from the past and i see some reviews saying it needs updating. I say no, it's all part of the charm. It's why i love this place. I also love the gift shop in the Turn of the Century. I have bought many of my favorite clothing items there. Bottom line, our wedding was magical, and the cost was extremely reasonable. We actually paid less than what we had budgeted for!

My family had been eating at the Three Coins Restaurant for years. I was always curious how the rooms were. We had a wedding there last night which was a blast. They had an outdoor tent set up. It was very fun. Plus I've enjoyed many amazing meals at their restaurant, including special dinners for New Year's Eve. However, the room we stayed in did not match up to the charm of the rest of the resort. The room itself was fine, with recently redone floor. However, it was VERY cheaply decorated (looked like straight out of the 1980's) and the carpet in the hallway was straight up disgusting. There are stains and it smells. My mom had always heard great things and was absolutely in shock at the condition. We paid $180 a night too in September...DEFINITELY not worth staying in the lodge and they really need to do some renovations. However, the rest of the property is great, including their cute gift shop.

My family has been coming to Holiday Acres since 1993. There is nothing that I look forward to more every other year than heading up to the peaceful North woods of WI. Whether we are going on one of the organized trail rides, cruising Lake Thompson on the pontoon, or just sitting around the campfire, we always have a great time. We don't know the owners personally, but it feels like we do whenever we see them at the cafe for breakfast or out of the lake. Can't wait to go back in 2021!
