While it is true the room could use updates the amazing lobby and wonderful staff more than made up for it. The stained glass depiction of the sun and planets in the lobby ceiling was the "crown jewel" of it all!

HOTEL’S FAVOURITE REVIEW

Epic stay at The Historic Plains in Cheyenne, WY. Giant room, historic hotel, great staff. Loved the old sign-in register book, and the sense of a time gone by can be felt in the classic decorative touches. Truly unique.

This place is an odd juxtaposition of a nicely restored and operated old hotel with some extremely odd fringe issues. I was last in the lobby ion the early 1990;'s and it was musty & run down. It is a real treat to see now and to finally stay there! The rooms I stayed in (two different ones in two...

Dear Traveler, You bring up many good points, and I'm sure your heart is in the right place....mine is too... I just purchased the building last year and have invested 1.5 million into deferred maintenance of 50 years! Rough sad shape it was left in...as you noted The one elevator, thank God: is running today; it has been "Modernized" with...

The Plains hotel is a unique place to stay with just enough modern amenities to make the stay nice and homey but still maintain the historical charm of years passed. Wondering the halls of this hotel you will see many photos from years passed and then realize that many of the antique furniture pieces are in the photos and are...

This was a lovely old hotel in the middle of Cheyenne. Therein lies the problem though! The lobby is probably the best I've seen - you can imagine the old west business men sat enjoying a whisky. The dining room was not too far behind either. Unfortunately, the lift was out of use, as it was being renovated, a point...

The owners of this 100 year old hotel are doing a good job of maintaining it's historic Western feel, but they have a ways to go in upgrading the rooms. The "classic rooms" are small and somewhat dated, but the larger suits have a sitting area and room to move around. The downtown location is within walking distance of several restaurants...

This is a great hotel. For starters, Cheyenne (this does not pertain to frontier days), is a pretty small town, so expecting a lot is going to lead to disappointment. My bff and I went to Cheyenne for a girls weekend and stayed at this historic hotel. Because it's the first hotel in Cheyenne (I think?), it's an old building...

Staying in an historical property can be fun, especially when they are located close to other historical sites. That is destroyed when the hotel has not been updated and the elevator does not work. My wife and I had a forth floor room and had to carry our luggage up four flights of stairs. In addition, the hotel restaurant had...

It was ok, there is only off-street parking, and the elevator is broken (I'm just hoping they have a back up plan for disabled or handicapped visitors). Also, my sink drain as well as my shower drain did not drain very fast (bath in the shower). I think the staff are trying to do the best they can with such...

Nice vintage old west charm. Unfortunately the ONLY guest elevator has been broken for over 3 weeks now as per the front desk upon check in. Be prepared to haul any luggage up very narrow curving staircases and hopefully you didn't book a 4th floor room. Beyond that issue its a wonderful old world hotel with friendly service and plenty...
