Small but romantic, cozy, rustic, charming, and most importantly...spotless! A step back in time. Dinning and service were excellent. Just a delight and a welcome surprise. Loved the Hostess! All the staff were all very friendly and helpful.

What an oasis of calm....close to the Eastern gateway to Yellowstone National Park. Forget ''social media'' of any form and step back in time. The cabins, nestled into the hillside, are comfortable and clean and cater for single people, couples and families of various sizes. Their décor is delightfully 'Western' and cosy and if you require anything just ask the...

Quiet comfy cabins right outside of Yellowstone. No tv or cell phone service is available which is exactly what we needed. We really enjoyed just sitting on our deck with a glass of wine and soaking up the beautiful scenery, peace and quiet and fresh air!

The only redeeming factor of this place was the two wild male bison that spent the night about 75 feet from our cabin! We saw them nearly too close in the morning! The cabin was tiny, extremely rustic, very poorly kept/constructed, and the bathroom was dirty. The shower curtain bar fell down, the hot water ran out after 1 shower,...

Close to east entrance of Yellowstone. The Cabin was small but very comfortable. No cell service, no TV, no Internet (TV and internet is available in the lounge). A perfect opportunity for cribbage on the front porch with a magnificent view. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and courteous. Dinner and breakfast in the dining room was excellent and...

We loved our stay at Elephant Head Lodge. Location is very convenient to Cody, Wy and to Yellowstone. The owner and her staff were wonderful. It is beautiful, quiet, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was absolutely wonderful every morning. The owner even visited our cabin to warn us that a grizzly bear was in the area, so beware. We did not...

We stayed in a cabin at Elephant Head Lodge during our trip to Yellowstone Park. It is 11 miles from the East Entrance to the park. The staff was helpful and friendly, our cabin was lovely and just perfect for what we wanted. Note: there is no cell phone service or televisions, but we liked that! They even booked a...

When we first checked in, the realization of no cell service, no tv was scary! Ultimately, so wonderful to be able to unplug and enjoy our surroundings and each other. The cabins were nice and comfortable. The dining room was awesome both for breakfast and dinner ( they also packed us a sack lunch for our day in the park)....

We had spent a long day at Yellowstone fighting traffic and crowds and hadn't yet booked a place. From 4 pm on, we had no cell service. We were also traveling with our dog. We left the park around 8 pm and saw a lodge with a vacancy sign. They were full after all but called places down the road...

This was a great place to stay! We did not make lodging plans before our trip and luckily they had 1 cabin available. It was pricier than we were hoping, but I think it was reasonable for prices we found for cabins in the area and we got the great cabin experience we wanted. The cabin was too large for...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Elephant Head Lodge is a small AAA log-cabin mountain resort located just 11.7 miles East of Yellowstone National Park and 40 miles west of Cody, WY. The lodge and most of our cabins are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It gets its name from a rock formation overlooking it. The Lodge, Restaurant, and the "Trapper" cabin were built in 1910 by Buffalo Bill Cody's niece, Josephine Thurston, and her husband Harry W. Thurston. Harry chose the site for its dependable water for early travelers to Yellowstone - and for trappers and Indians. Our small lodge is a wonderful base for touring the Yellowstone National Park, Cody, and the Shoshone National Forest. It is a great place for horseback riding, relaxing, fishing, hiking, and viewing wildlife, as well as good homecooked meals, with homemade bread, soups, and desserts, as well as famous homemade cinnamon rolls. Cabin rates vary depending on size (house 2-8 people per cabin)& accommodations (some with kitchenettes). High season rates Memorial-Labor Day $153-356/night. Low season rates May & September until early October $137-320/night. All with bath(s) & non-smoking. ... more   less
