This was a nice place. The cabin was basic and nice and the grounds were great for a walk except that they are up hills. If handicapped would not recommend. The staff was nice and very friendly. Food was very good but expensive. ***Would highly recommend doing a sack lunch. It was only ten dollars and was a good lunch....

We always enjoy our trips to Yellowstone and especially the time spent at the Elephant Head Lodge. While there you can experience a variety of beautiful wild life sightings - you will also be blessed with the lodge owners extensive knowledge about the area and sharing of fascinating real life stories. He and his wife are the ultimate hosts, providing...

My wife and I, along with our two labs stayed at Elephant Head Lodge in Sept. Every expectation we had was exceeded. The food, the staff, the area all made this a fantastic place. We have since retired and purchased a motor home to travel in, but I will still stop there any time we are near. The staff made...

My wife and I first came to Elephant Head Lodge because a sophisticated "foodie" friend highly recommended the steaks, and we were going to be in the area. We found the meat to be as recommended and the owners< Debbie & Kevin Millard, terrificly friendly and hospitable. The prices are fair and reasonable. The setting is awesome. Fishing is excellent,...

We chose to stay at Elephant Head Lodge because of its proximity to Yellowstone National Park. Little did we realize that we unknowingly hit the JACKPOT by selecting Elephant Head Lodge. It is the ULTIMATE MOUNTAIN RESORT. Kevin and Debbie Millard, gracious owners, took excellent care of us throughout our stay. We had such a wonderful time that we didn't...

We literally fell into Elephant Head Lodge coming out of Cody, WY and on the way to Yellowstone Park. Debbie & Kevin and their entire staff made us feel welcome from day one. The cabins are exceptional and clean and the staff will meet every need. They are a short drive (less than 10 miles) to the East gate of...

We spent a week at this lodge traveling throughout the Cody, Beartooth Pass and YNP. Very clean rustic cabins, fantastic food, great staff, I can't praise it enough! Kevin would spend time on the patio speaking of the history of the lodge to guests and made it so interesting. The horse trail ride was phenomenal. Views awesome and I could...

I found Elephant Head after doing an internet search for east entrance lodging to YNP. This was absolutely the most beautiful place to stay!! We stayed in West Yellowstone one night, and were so happy to come back to stay at Elephant Head Lodge before we had to head back home. The cabins are cozy and exactly what I had...

You have to like funky places to stay here. The cabins are old and traditionally decorated, with no air conditioning, TVs or internet access (except in the main building). But it's one of the closest hotels to the east entrance of Yellowstone, and it's got great charm. The owners are a bit awkward interpersonally, but they love the property and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Elephant Head Lodge is a small AAA log-cabin mountain resort located just 11.7 miles East of Yellowstone National Park and 40 miles west of Cody, WY. The lodge and most of our cabins are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It gets its name from a rock formation overlooking it. The Lodge, Restaurant, and the "Trapper" cabin were built in 1910 by Buffalo Bill Cody's niece, Josephine Thurston, and her husband Harry W. Thurston. Harry chose the site for its dependable water for early travelers to Yellowstone - and for trappers and Indians. Our small lodge is a wonderful base for touring the Yellowstone National Park, Cody, and the Shoshone National Forest. It is a great place for horseback riding, relaxing, fishing, hiking, and viewing wildlife, as well as good homecooked meals, with homemade bread, soups, and desserts, as well as famous homemade cinnamon rolls. Cabin rates vary depending on size (house 2-8 people per cabin)& accommodations (some with kitchenettes). High season rates Memorial-Labor Day $153-356/night. Low season rates May & September until early October $137-320/night. All with bath(s) & non-smoking. ... more   less
