We went to the ranch for the first time with 3 generations. Mark & Gretchen have a wonderful policy that 1 grandparent was free with 3 generations - this made my mother very happy (she even got on a horse). My 85 year old Dad rode 5 out of 6 days.... The entire staff was wonderful. The fishing was fabulous....

2015 was my third consecutive visit to the T Cross and I'm already making plans for a 2016 visit. Mark and Gretchen have created a wonderful place to escape from it all. Jay (the chef) makes the best meals, always something I enjoy. They bend over backwards to accommodate dietary restrictions. I rank my riding ability as moderate and I'm...

My husband and our three boys always wanted to venture out west and have a real dude ranch experience. We are from the Northeast and wanted a break from school, sports and our hectic schedule. I did a lot of research on dude ranches and determined I wanted to be in Wyoming and during August before our sons returned to...

We stayed her summer 2015. Scheduled one week but left early. The riding, though advertised as "beginner to advanced" is not riding at all, it's sitting. Walk only. Up the mountain and then down the mountain, every day. Horses had cracked hoofs, some were lame. None were very happy to be going out on the trails. Half of the horses...

I visited Cross again for the 15th consecutive summer. On driving in I am always impressed by the natural beauty of the valley, Horse Creek running the entire length of the ranch, backed up by the towering ridges on the East and West sides. What one sees from start to finish of a trip is the overall quality of T...

Our stay at the T Cross exceeded all of our expectations. Our family of 5 (3 daughters, ages 15, 13 and 10) had an amazing experience. Even my husband, who is not a real horseback rider, was pleasantly surprised at how much he enjoyed the experience. The scenery is breathtaking, and it is amazing to be down at the ranch...

Call it a "Dude" ranch if you want...this is the real thing! Real horses, real cowboys, real adventure! The owners, Gretchen and Mark Cardall are the most gracious of hosts. I am proud to call them my friends. Don't expect the Hilton, but the little cabin I had was clean and comfortable. Every staff member treats you like family. The...

T Cross Ranch, an historical dude ranch, tucked back in seclusion. Operated by a true cowboy family. Rustic in appearence, and in some ammenities. Freindly, knowledgable, and an experience of true western history. Wrangled by cowboys and cowgirls that know horses and people. If you are seeking a dude ranch that offers true west tradition, not a ranch ran by...

This is not a vacation to relax. But you will get away from it all. Beautiful scenery, lovely horse trails and the best staff! Ask for Joe & Bailey!! Jay, the chef, will prepare meals to your needs. Really, you only need a couple of jeans, t-shirts, flannels and maybe a sweatshirt hoodie. And a good pair of boots!!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The T Cross Ranch, located in the greater Yellowstone area, has been providing guests with an unforgettable all-inclusive experience for close to 100 years. Comfortable cabins are furnished with rustic elegance. Fabulous meals featuring made-from-scratch breads and organic ranch-raised beef satisfy every appetite. The surrounding country is unforgettable, with the Absaroka mountain peaks soaring to over 13,000 feet around the ranch. This land has been carved naturally by water, wind, and glaciers. Horseback is the only way to see this pristine country. With a string of over 60 horses, there’s the perfect mount for every guest. Our wranglers are experienced cowboys with literally thousands of miles on horseback under their belts. This is western riding in its purest form, the way it originated, the way few people experience it. ... more   less
