Are both Yellowstone and Grand Teton on your itinerary? Then consider staying at Headwaters Lodge & Cabins at Flagg Ranch! Our lodging and camping is along Snake River in the John D. Rockefeller Jr. Memorial Parkway, only a few miles from both national parks! Lodging options include cabins, RV sites (with full hook-ups), tent sites, and camper cabins. Headwaters is the perfect place to unplug and unwind. Being located in the heart of western Wyoming means you won’t find cell service or Wi-Fi during your stay, but with so much to fill your days, you’ll hardly miss it! Here are just few things you’ll enjoy when you unplug with us: horseback riding, hiking trails, fly-fishing, boat cruises, wildlife viewing, your favorite indoor and outdoor games (available at the front desk), rafting, and daily complimentary activities. Be sure to visit Sheffield’s Restaurant and enjoy our local Wyoming dishes! We also offer a saloon, convenience store, and morning coffee bar.

I stayed in one of the deluxe cabins and absolutely loved it! No wifi or cell service had me sitting in the amphitheater area watching an amazing sunset while kids played hide and go seek tag (instead of being glued to their phones). The cabin was well appointed with a coffee maker, fridge and microwave; the beds were comfortable and I especially appreciated the rocking chairs. While I understand some previous comments about the price, you are paying for location to some extent so a higher price is to be expected since you are just outside two NPs. I would absolutely stay here again; it was way above what I expected!

We splurged ($300+) on king cabin to have microwave and refrigerator so we could make our own meals and be isolated. No coffeemaker although advertised on web, which meant having to go to lodge each morning, which is risky in pandemic. Loved rocking chairs and views of Snake River Valley, which included fox. Even in mid-June, it was not always warm to sit outside. Nice pathway down to river. Excellent hikes include in ranked order: Flagg Canyon (5miles round trip, but can use connector and only do north part for shorter hike) ; Polecat Creek Loop; Glade Creek Trail. Grassy Lake Road had 6 or more good hikes, but when we tried to go to Beula Lake, it was closed at 7 miles: Bear management. We’ve done Terrace Falls trail before: spectacular. What is really wonderful is that we rarely if ever met anyone on trails. Hiking poles and bear spray helpful. Be aware that the Berry Fire Of 2016 came right up to the buildings, so the evidence of burnt trees still there. Staff members very friendly and helpful, of course, at safe distance. Definitely do internet research prior as WiFi is very limited even at lodge. But it is available even if slow. NPS.gov has trail status reports. Expensive but refreshing trip.

Headwaters is just outside both the Tetons and Yellowstone-perfectly positioned in between. It is away from the crazy, car packed pressures of both destinations and yet offers all the advantages of both parks.

We had a deluxe room that overlooked the river and easy access to a path down to the river. Each cabin offered two rocking chairs on the patio from which to relax and enjoy the view as well as the neighbors various dogs.

The staff have done a great job establishing social distancing practices-easy check in and contactless check out. The restaurant offers a very efficient take out service. We had a delicious rib steak and salad on our patio. The potstickers for an appetizer were the best we have had most anywhere. Definitely order these!

Staff were gracious, funny and hospitable despite the challenges of COVID-19. We come through here every two years and will make a point of staying at Headwaters again.

Headwaters was a perfect campground if you want to park your rig in one spot with full hookups and be able to see both southern Yellowstone and the Tetons.

It is a decent drive to see the main sites at both parks, so if you are willing to move your rig and give up hookup options, then you may be better off finding a campsite in each park and move sites mid-trip trip. However it worked perfect for us to see the southern loop of Yellowstone while also hitting up Jackson Hole and Tetons while keeping our rig in one spot.

Beyond the location, the sites were flat, well maintained and across the street from fuel, convenience store and restaurant. We had a nice pull thru site (419) with plenty of room between sites. The sewer hookups were unique and required a sewer hose support to make it work properly, but otherwise hookups were good. No cell service for Verizon – we had to drive 10 miles south to Jackson Lake Overlook to get service. Not a big deal and nice to disconnect, until we had a marshmallow burn injury and really missed having internet! Some dust from the campground roads, but not as bad as other campgrounds we’ve been to. Only bummer was the firewood we bought from the convenience store across the street was still fresh and damp, so our campfires were not great during our visit. Campground was very quiet with great coverage of pine trees between sites.

The area is administered by the National Park Service, even though it’s not technically in a national park. Therefore, the same rules apply as National Parks. We found out that the campground also has “security” that doubles as a first aide support (needed after the burning marshmallow incident) who was an outstanding guy – couldn’t thank him enough for his help, burn cream, and good humor. Security also plays the role of grizzly chaser, as there are a few that frequent the area. They are very serious about keeping food locked up to prevent bear encounters – so make sure to be bear aware with food.

Campground overall was great and we’d stay here again.

We stayed in one of the camping cabins - around $75 per night and we had a great time! The check in process was really easy and the ladies working the front desk were super helpful.

They have a restaurant, grocery store and gas station on site that actually isn't crazy overpriced. Showers, bathrooms and laundry facilities as well! A great location in between Teton and Yellowstone.

After a long four days of camping in Yellowstone without running water, showers, or electric hookups, Headwaters’ clean showers with individual stalls were exactly what we needed. The sites were clean and spaced out with places to walk and hike around nearby. Would definitely stay here again.

I booked a premium view cabin at Headwaters Lodge at Flagg Ranch as the midpoint for our week touring Yellowstone and Grand Tetons since it’s literally smack in the middle of the two. Keep in mind these are nice hotel rooms built as a cabin. The beds were comfy. We were grateful for the mini fridge since we were eating breakfast in the room and packing lunches for our hikes. The location is beautiful. Loved the two porch rockers outside the cabin. The staff did all they could to cheerfully serve amidst the challenges of Covid restrictions, which included the restaurant only offering carry out meals.

These cabins are affordable alternatives to staying at one of the lakes nearby. The major sights are 30-60 minutes away, but you can hike in the nearby mountains.

We stayed one night because the prices at Yellowstone Lake were outrageous during peak season. The cabins are rather nice, more modern and comfortable than the cabins at Colter Bay.

We had a fantastic experience here! We spoke with the front desk manager prior to our trip to have an idea of the layout of the property, a better understanding of the amenities, and who would respond in the event of an emergency. We felt much more at ease traveling/staying there with our child who has epilepsy and autism after speaking with Susan. The staff we interacted with at the front desk, housekeeping, gift shop, convenience store and restaurant were always professional, friendly and helpful. We appreciated the amenities of our deluxe cabin since it allowed us to keep food for breakfast, lunch and snacks on hand to keep our food costs down. We usually had dinner at the lodge restaurant and every meal there was delicious. The service was great but not always quick so I'm glad we chose to eat our last meal of each day there so that we weren't ever rushed to eat and get to an activity on time. Our cabin's accommodations were comfortable and spacious enough for the 3 of us. We used the laundromat on site half-way through our trip; it was great to have this available because we had packed as lightly as possible and had to wash clothing to have outfits for the remainder of our trip. The only downside is the mosquitoes which are prevalent from the beginning of spring until mid-July. Since this property is situated in the woods, you have to be prepared for the mosquitoes. If you want a property that offers a lot of comforts/conveniences and amenities, and you are planning to stay at a location that is between Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons so that you can visit both parks then we recommend Flagg Ranch!

We splurged and stayed in a deluxe cabin. It was wonderful! It had that new carpet smell. I felt like it was brand new. The room was very large and had a desk, small table and chairs, mini fridge, and a microwave. There was even two robes hanging in the closet. I loved the patio doors with a view of the mountains. We watched the sunset in the rocking chairs. There is no air conditioning, but it wasn’t needed (even in July). It cooled way down at night. There is a restaurant in the lodge which requires a reservation. We didn’t know that and had to get dinner elsewhere. Overall, this was a great stay! I highly recommend it!

The Deluxe Rooms do have a coffee maker in them, not a pot, it was pretty small.

Hello Arlene, thank you for your interest in booking with us. Our lodging does not include air conditioners. The average temperature in July ranges from a high of 80 and low of 40 with low humidity. We typically find that cracking a window and using the fan for airflow cools the room sufficiently. Our standard rooms do not include a refrigerator, however, we have ice machines located within walking distance of your cabin. Our laundry facilities are located at the campground, just a short distance from our guest cabins. Our standard cabins are our only pet friendly accommodation, please note there is an additional fee.

Yes! We have longer sites and can accommodate all sizes of RVs. When you make a reservation, we collect info on your RV, including the length, type, and number of slides, so we can make sure your site will accommodate your rig. Thanks for asking!
