Stayed here this month with my partner booked through hostel world and got charged extra so I would avoid that and book by the phone. Other than that we have had a great stay. Run by a group of friends chilling out on the Island, really friendly and invited us out with them to things and gave us tips about...

Me and my friend made the reservation for the hostel online. Hostels website is still online and reservations can be made. They are taking the full payments for the accommodation. When we arrived there hostel was closed. Neighbours told us it's been closed for 3 months already.

The confirmation was sent and yesterday as we arrived we found out that the hostel was abandoned and closed ... and nobody told us anything. We lost the money for one night and had...

Originally, I planned to live in the dorm, but the only bed available was either on the top bunk or a very creaky spring mattress near the door. The following day, I opted to upgrade into the private room and it was much more comfortable and worth the extra $30. Free breakfast is a plus, and the location is so...

This hostel is clean, relaxing and comfortable. The guy on reception was really laid back and made us feel very welcome. It's a good location near the tsunami museum and a little cinema. Would definitely go back!

The moment you walk through the door of Hilo Backpackers you become part of the family. Jared (aka my hero) greats you with friendly smile but the service doesn't stop there. He is a goldmine of advice for what to do on the big island. We intended to spend only 1 night but ended up staying 5. We hung out...

The rooms are clean, good pressure in the showers. Nice open spaces, good common area. It would have been nice to be able to bring food and drinks up to...
