Most people had it good when moving to big island.I did not.Initially a co-worker had let me stay at his place for a few days.Did not have enough time to find any apartment.Stayed at a insect ridden rat infested room in a house for severaly months, then decided enough was enough. Moved to Waiakea Villa. Not only is it more saner, but with...

Aloha, I stayed at Waiakea Villas in Building 1 from June 04 to Feb 05 while by home was being built in Hilo. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Waiakea Villas & the local phone company allowed me to have a phone /DSL line installed prior to my arrival. There were no problems with the installation or...

I have lived at Waiakea Villa's on a 6 month lease. This was the most horrible 6 months of my life. Their was no cold water in the morning so you would have to take scalding hot showers. I also made numerous request to get it fixed and managment did nothing. Sometimes they thought it was funny. The ponds are...

I don't understand why everyone is so scathing. I live in the villas and I am very pleased with it. So far, I have only had to call management to fix my hot water regulator and my oven and both times someone was there in fifteen minutes to fix it. Try finding that at any other apartments in Hilo. I...

Rental choices are few in Hilo, but this aint one to put on your list. This place opened in the early 70's . The buildings show alot of wear & tear from rain damage. On hard rainy days & nights this place has numerous flood & leak problems. I had my very own private waterfall leaking from my 3rd story balcony ceiling...

I was a former female UH-Hilo student staying here 1 year ago.I never known this place to be a hotel. My stay there lasted only 3 months ( on a 6 month lease) because I felt unsafe. The walkways & parking lots are dark to walk thru at night.Weekends are very loud from customers going to night club. Employees start...

I was a former UH-HILO student living at Waiakea Villas. My experience was like other reviewers. The apt buildings are connected by a rat & mosquito infested pond. Seen many times at night rats swimming in the pond from myt balcony. Ducks & goose on property dont help either leaving droppings all over. On weekends I have gotten up finding...

The rooms are small & dirty. Parking lots & property is filled with trash from customers who visits night club on premises.Have known tenants & guests there who have got cars stolen into even with security on duty.Overall, the place lacks management & upkeep of property.

I would definitely NOT recommend Waiakea Villas! The rooms double as homes to families of very bold cockroaches and the front desk service is terrible. The "hotel" is a combination business park/apartment building/hotel, and all three are mixed in together. Our room was right across the hall from a young man's apartment and he had late night parties that were...

“The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained: flowers, ponds, wildlife (fish, chickens, ducks). But management needs to clean out the undesireables that live here to make it a clean and safe place to stay.”
