This place is probably the prettiest cottage we have ever stayed in. It felt like a modern take on a Japanese ryokan. All light and wood - really, words can't do it justice. The kitchen was perfect - we cooked most nights - and very well-equipped. The bed was comfortably firm. Wifi lightning fast. Bring eye shades - the blinds... More

This cottage was a work of art: absolutely beautiful, with carved wood and exquisite arrangements throughout. You can see that Nohea was designed and built with love. It was easily the best cottage we stayed of the 10 we hired between Maui and the big island over a month. It's inside the rain forest, just 3 mins from volcano village... More

We spent 3 nights in Kate's Cottage with 2 adults and 1 child. The cottage worked great for us with a king sized bed and a futon. There was plenty of space for our family. The kitchen was fully stocked for cooking. We appreciated the cereal for a quick breakfast. The lanai was lovely and peaceful. The location is wonderful,... More

We stayed in Kate's cottage. It was beautiful, spacious and clean. The rainforest surroundings are lovely and well looked after. The owner is so amazing and helpful. We will definitely be coming back. This is the best place to stay in the big island of Hawaii. It so only about five minutes from the volcano national park.

Me and my family (5 adults) stayed at Kahi Malu cottage for three nights for visiting Hawaii Volcano National Park. When I searched for accommodation in Volcano area, the location and size of the cottage is a big attraction to me. It is close to the park and within Volcano Village where has several nice restaurants and groceries. The cottage... More

We had a great stay at Kate's Cottage. It was beautiful inside with the perfect back lanai literally in the rainforest. Kathryn is the most welcoming host and made us feel right at home with the fully stocked cottage - she paid such attention to detail down to the tour books, maps of Volcano, and personalized tips. The location cannot... More

Whenever you visit a National Park (NP) you have the choice between the convenience of staying in the NP or looking for better quality accommodation outside. In the case of our visit to Volcano NP we are so glad that we opted for the latter and chose Nohea, offered by Volcano places. Nohea is a lovely cottage located on the... More

We stayed in the studio apartment named Kate's Volcano cottage. There was a large, very comfortable bed and a futon in a large room with a tv, DVD player adjacent to a small kitchen. The stove was small with an oven and the frig was dorm-sized. An outside deck was very private with handmade table. Enjoyed coffee several days there.... More

Kathryn is a wonderful hostess! We went went friends and booked two cottages that connected. The cottages were lovely and had everything you could possibly need. The surroundings were beautiful - wish we could have stayed longer! Volcano Village is only 10 minutes from the park. It was the perfect place to kick back after a full day exploring Volcano... This amazing place cannot be captured with pictures. We stayed in Kate's Cottage which is a beautifully built wood framed home in the rain forest. The kitchen is stocked with all sorts of things a home would have, but things you don't normally get at most airbnb or vrbo places - things like coffees and teas, cereals, sharp knives, new... More
