This was a very comfortable, cozy cottage. Staff were very friendly and made sure i was settled. Given that Volcano is colder than other places, the free standing heater was nice. The food was good, too.

We loved the location right by Volcano National Park and the restaurant was really cute, cozy and interesting. But,,, the hot tub was cloudy and uninviting and the room while nicely decorated and clean and we loved the fireplace was very small and right over...More

Mahalo for taking the time to write a review. I have just returned from a trip (Albert stayed home to take care of everything) and asked Teri in the office about the hot tub after reading your comment. They said last week we needed a...More
We have stayed at Kilauea Lodge in Volcano many times. Though we live in Kona, it's a two-hour drive, so it's great to stay. Kilauea Lodge staff is always welcoming; the rooms are always clean and well-appointed. A great breakfast is included; the restaurant also...More

Ahhhh A returning guest. The finest compliment. Thank you. aloha Lorna
We spent a few days at the lovely hideaway at Kilauea Lodge in Volcano. It was definitely worth spending the extra money to be in the hideaway. It was very tranquil and quiet and all you could hear was the beautiful sounds of birds. The...More

The Kilauea Lodge rents cottages. I have stayed in spacious rooms in one of the properties. It offers breakfast, picnic lunch and dinner. Breakfast is complimentary. Very close to Volcano National park whee we saw many a toddler. I found the whole area remote but there are stores and food available. Our goal was the national park but if that is not your interest and you group requires a lot of activity this may not be for you.

Aloha,
Thank you for considering us. The Hale Maluna rooms are smaller standard rooms roughly 225 square ft. Room 1-Kimura is the larger of those rooms with an actual desk. All our rooms have central heat. In May the fireplace is more for the ambiance. Volcano is relatively cooler. We're about 3800 ft. elevation in the rainforest. A standard Hale Aloha room would give you more space for your luggage, and have an actual desk as well, roughly 335 square ft. All of our guest have access to the common room.
I hope this helps in your decision.

Wow! Never had a complaint about Teri after 27 years. BUT there's always a first! Today, in fact the last three days, have not been good days for the Office. I apologize profusely but it has been crazy. We were struck by lightening on Friday during the big electrical storm which is part of the El Nino weather system of 2015 and 2016. The strike blew out our credit card machines, our timeclock, our wifi systems, Open Tables and our Rezovations room reservation system. It also blew our commercial washer and mangler. It has been a hell for all the office and housekeeping arena. No replacement parts have yet arrived and we are living with the results of going back to the early 90's in our handling of everything. You may have caught Teri in one of her more difficult moments...and I am so sorry. She is generally very amiable and helpful and supportive etc. Please don't judge us as a result of a really really bad office day. Thank you for reading my long explanation. Aloha and Mahalo Lorna
