We chose this location on Booking.com for its proximity to the Volcanoes National Park about (5) minutes away from the park entry. This is one very nice place located in a tropical forest atmosphere. Sandy greeted us and showed us our cottage. The unit was very nice and clean. Garrett then offered to show us their tropical garden which is...

Aloha and mahalo for taking the time to write a review. We are glad you found the cottage clean and nice. The dehumidifier helps it stay that way because as you said we live in a tropical climate. We do ask that you run the dehudifier while you are gone so the noise does not bother you. In the summer...

During our two week Hawaiian vacation on Oahu and the Big Island our 3 night stay at the Volcano Country Cottages was the best. Everything you read about Garrett and Sandy is true and their B&B is quaint, private, and very relaxing. Garrett was so very helpful in helping us to plan out our days so that we could maximize...

Aloha and mahalo for your wonderful review. We strive to provide a comfortable and private stay for our guests, sounds like we did that. Garret loves to share the island and does his best to help others enjoy it. Taking time to help with your daily plans is his favorite part of the day. Of course hearing your feedback is...

My wife and I were halfway through our two-week 40th wedding anniversary Hawaiian vacation. We had wandered about the Kona side of the big island, and frankly, we were weary of the prospect of another week of trying to figure out what to see and where to go. Then we met Garrett, the owner of Volcano Cottages B&B when we...

Aloha and mahalo for your wonderful review! We thoroughly enjoy sharing the island, as you mentioned. The where to go and what to see are up to you, Garret just makes suggestions. Aloha and mahalo nui (thanks much) for your kind words. Garret loves to share the island with everyone. We started visiting the island in 1979 so his knowledge goes a ways back. Sharing the island and helping you with your needs is the best way to share the Aloha of the islands. We are glad to know you enjoyed a...

We loved to stay with Garret and Sandy! The small cottage where we stayed was perfect for the two of us and the breakfast with Sandy's homemade banana bread and fresh fruits was absolutely delicious. But most of all we appreciate them sharing all the information about the area, and about the whole island actually. Amazing night sky with the...

This is an older but very well maintained property. Super clean. Nice towels, comfy beds. Friendly owners. Great location in town, close to the national park. And unlike many places in this part of the island, it didn't have that musty/moldy smell. We would come back.

Aloha! Glad you found us to be clean and comfy. The house you stayed in dates into the early 1940's, the Ohelo Berry Cottage is 1915, our home is 1901. The two houses in the back of the property date to the 2006, 7 age. We run, and ask our guests to run the dehumidifiers to help keep the houses...

There are so many reasons that this special place is a top rated accommodation by TripAdvisor members, that I will only cover a couple. Proximity to the Volcano National Park is certainly one of them but far more important are the owners Sandy & Garret Gooding. Their mission in life seems to be making their guests the most welcome visitors...
