We just ended a 14 day stay here. Choosing this resort was a great move. We had a 1 BR suite with a full kitchen with full size fridge, stove, & microwave, plus a stackable washer/dryer which was great to have! The price tag wasn't cheap but when you compare it to other resorts with the same kind of room, it was a good choice. It's always prime rates in Hawaii, so the price is never too cheap. The grounds are beautiful with lush gardens, a beautiful pool with a waterfall, hot tub, umbrellas & an ocean view near the pool. The beach isn't swimmable here but, Lydgate Beach which was one of our favorites, was a few minutes up the road. Speaking of location, this was PERFECT. If you haven't been to Kauai before, I'd recommend you stay on the East Shore. It had the best access to wherever you want to go. There's a Longs Drug (cvs) 2 min away & Safeway 4 min away, restaurants everywhere, Luau close by, the Coconut Marketplace is just across the parking lot from the Beachboy. There's a market, coffee, many shops, & a few restaurants. They also have entertainment and a fruit market periodically. Speaking of shopping, stop by Costco & Walmart on your way from the airport for whatever you can use. The room was nice, clean, and very comfortable. The staff was very friendly & attentive. We had a couple maintenance issues (AC dripping & freezer fan making a loud noise) & they cane quickly each time. This is a Wyndham/Shell Timeshare so they will try to get you to listen to a presentation. We did it as we were promised all of the excursions we had planned could be cancelled & then rebooked with their discount. It only worked for 1 of them and it wasn't worth it. The one thing I wish they offered was beach chairs and beach umbrellas to borrow. We ended up buying a couple less expensive chairs at Walmart and a cheap umbrella at Longs drug. The resort provides you with beach towels, so don't bring or buy those. We highly recommend this resort if the accommodations are available. Aloha!

The complex is very well maintained with a small pool and bar. There are Weber grills all over the property for guests to use. The large rooms have a living area, each room has a TV, washing machine (with washing powder), tumble dryer, complete kitchen with mixer, microwave, oven. The studio with two bedrooms also had two bathrooms. The starting point of this hotel is ideal as you live roughly in the middle of Waimea Canyon and North Shore. As we stayed in two rooms for 2 nights each, we don't know if they are cleaned. My wife and I enjoyed our 4-night stay. We stayed with Wyndham points. We were able to check in early (just after 12 pm), which I think had the benefit of missing the timeshare sales pitch. The hotel has free covered parking, shops and eateries are within close walking distance, and the location is great for getting around Kauai. The room was clean, spacious, with a full kitchen, and walking distance to the water, and some other restaurants along the coast. There is a small market right next door, and a Longs Drugs within walking distance. We were too busy sightseeing around the island to make it to the hotel restaurant. We cooked our own breakfast an then spent most of the days around the island. We used the hot tub once - but it was a bit crowded (my only small complaint). We walked out to the water every morning to catch the sunrise. If all you need from a hotel is easy parking, great location for outdoor excursions, and a clean and comfortable room, then I highly recommend this place.

Booked at this resort for 10 days mid July 2022. It was rated at 4.5 out of 5. After being at the resort for 30 minutes I quickly concluded that the favorable reports could only have been written by paid Wyndham employees. Checkin was fairly smooth..I provided my credit card for the usual deposit. I was then told I was being charged an additional 15 dollars for a tax I was not charged when the booking was made. We were also now told that there was no maid service.This is only done after checkout or every 10 days if you are staying longer. So be prepared to do your own cleaning, haul your garbage to bins set outside etc. We found our room at night ourself and found the key card would not unlock the door. Went back to the lobby and returned with security. After a lot of attempts he got the door to open.To test it he relocked again and again it took forever to unlock. We got inside and we're told that maintenance would come by. Inside we discovered we were in a 1 bedroom not a 2 bedroom we had booked. The resort was full so we could not move. Furnishing in the room are very dated and well worn. They should have been replaced 10 years ago and probably twice in that time. Maintenance showed up and could not get the door to open. We were told someone else would try the next day. Finally after two different maintenance people the lock was working the next afternoon. Lastly I booked a rental car through the hotel for 5 days. All was good and I paid at the hotel. Took an Uber to get the car a 32 dollar charge. I found out at the rental company that my rental was for 7 days, 2 days longer than I would be in Kauai. The rental company said they could not reverse any charges as that had to be done by the hotel. I took the care and went to the hotel.Here they told me that as I had the car nothing could be done The hotel rep did try to help but the Windham supervisor. said they could do nothing to reverse the 2 day charge even though they acknowledged their error. I told them I would even be happy with a hotel crrd but was told no. I have 3 more glorious days in this hell hole in paradise I can only guess what comes next V

The ocean view is nice however that is where it ends. Upon checking in they ask that you book a “resort update “ appointment for the next day. This is not an update, it is a timeshare presentation for Wyndham. We stayed in the “Canoe” building which needs lots of TLC. The room had a musty smell, the furniture is dated, sofa needs cleaning, sofa bed mattress stained, the room could use a good cleaning and makeover. There are no housekeeping services of any kind offered until after day 10 so if your stay is 9 days or less you clean your room yourself including changing sheets and towels. We booked a rental vehicle through the resort. They booked us for 2 additional days after we leave and acknowledged that it was their error however refused to refund us for the extra days.

An accommodation that hides something very uncomfortable Exact words I said at reception: “I came here on holiday, to rest and sleep what I don't usually sleep. And I find that the roosters that walk around the hotel at will, wake me up at 4 in the morning EVERY DAY! The only solution they gave me was to change rooms. They insisted that they couldn't do anything else.” Do you know something? I do, I warn all future clients who intend to go to your hotel, that they will be awake from 4am to 4:30am. EVERY night! And if they go to reception, they already know the answer, to another room where the roosters' crowing will be heard even more Obviously I cannot recommend this place to anyone

The concierge who was a women extremely unhelpful. She flat out told us a lie about booking a table at the Beach House Restaurant. She said she left me a message which I never received after checking my cell number and room number several times. She said all reservations were booked up the week of our stay at the Beach Boy. I called the Beach House restaurant personally and there were at least three available dates and times we could choose without any trouble. We booked a reservation via telephone without any trouble and the staff were quite confused because they said they never received a call from the Kauai Beach Boy Resort. After being Shell and Wyndham owners for many years, we have never been treated so poorly by the staff there. We had guests stay with us this time and it was quite embarrassing that we were treated so poorly. Albert checked us in at the resort and became argumentative when we asked why our room we requested as owners months ago was not available. He became quite obdurate, impatient, disrespectful to us when we checked in. We have stayed at this resort many times as owners and in good conscience can no longer recommend this resort as a nice resort to stay at. The rooms are beginning to show their age, there was dust and dirt on the furniture, in the kitchen, unclean bathrooms, and no sign of maid service during the week. We would like to state that the sales representative which we booked a sales update was very helpful and considerate. We are clearly disappointed and quite dismayed at the other representatives that proved a lack of respect and concern during our stay at the Beach Boy.

Highly recommend this resort. The location of the resort is perfect. Beachfront with a nice pool, hot tub. There is multiple restaurants and shopping within a 2 minute walk! You can literally stay here and not have to drive anywhere if you prefer to stay and relax. There is a grocery store across the road, prices are high but they have most what you need. There is also a cheaper alternative, Safeway grocery store just a 2 minute drive. 1 beach front restaurant, Lava Lava Beach Club. Hukilau Lanai restaurant is right at resort and is absolutely amazing. You need to make reservations at least 2-3 weeks before your trip, I’d recommend making reservations when you book your trip so you can get the time you want! I had the fish and my husband had the Prime Rib, he said it was the best Prime Rib he had ever had. He had it 3 times during our trip! Meals are $25-45. We usually don’t spend this much on meals;however, it was so amazing we did 3 times! We stayed in a 1 bedroom unit. I was so pleasantly surprised how large it was! There is a nice kitchen. The resort is located in Kapaa which is on East side. This is the perfect location, you can easily drive to the North side or West side. Kapaa is a great location with a nice shopping and beaches area also. Downtown Kapaa is only a 5-7 minutes away. This will always be our choice place to when we visit Hawaii!

This was our first time staying at the Beach Boy and we loved it. The rooms are a little dated but the beautiful property and location makes up for that 10x over for us. The bed was super comfy. The grounds are spectacular and we love the location on the island as it is easy to go north OR south from here. If you want a spectacular unit this probably isn’t the place for you but if the grounds of the resort are important you will love it!

The front desk personnel, Albert, Elijian and I think her name is Rose made this trip extra special. They were always friendly and helpful, and we were there for 9 days. The resort itself really needs some help. There is a lot of sloppy paint splatter in the room. The lighting in the bathrooms are horribly dim. Alot of rust and moister damage on wood cabinets. Housekeeping needs to consider cleaning out the dryer lint screen after some leaves and pull out the drawer at the bottom of the oven and clean. You may be surprised what you find...like a lot of dirt!!

Before I booked our stay, it was my biggest question too. :) We stayed at the Beachboy for 3 weeks in April and swam each day.
Yes, it's perfectly safe for swimming, but not always directly in front of the hotel only because there are some large rocks. It depends how calm the water is on any given day.
Otherwise, just stroll about a minute down the coastal path and you'll find sandy spots to swim. We swam in front of the Lava Lava Beach Club without any issues, even on "rough" days. In April, there was no current to speak of.
If you have young children, you could walk about a minute more to the end of the path where you'll find a keiki pool (a shallow pool in the ocean protected from waves for young children).
If you look at the Beachboy on Google Maps using satellite, you'll see what I mean.
We had a really wonderful stay at the Beachboy and recommend it without hesitation.
There are more places to choose from in the Kapaa area.
