Awesome staff!!! Rooms pool and beach were very clean and easily accessible. Red Salt was amazing for breakfast snd dinner. Best meals we had on the island by far. Concierge, valet, front desk and cleaning staff were sll so friendly. We safe and comfortable there we will return!!
We spent 3 nights at Koa Kea in early December, and were very impressed with the property and the service all around! Safety standards were excellent with respect to Covid protocols, largely not impacting the overall resort experience. The property has a truly intimate feel, with easy access to the excellent public beaches in front of neighboring resorts (just rocky beach immediately in front of Koa Kea). Rooms are a good size and nicely appointed, with a super comfy bed. Oceanfront rooms are truly "oceanfront" and definitely the way to go if you can. The gym was available in hour blocks for private reservation, which was a really nice option. And daily sunrise yoga was a great way to start each day (more energizing than challenging , for yoga-types). Unfortunately, we didn't get to enjoy Red Salt restaurant as it was closed the days we were there, but local friends commented its the best restaurant on the island. Only disappointments: The useless resort fee (which most Hawaiian resorts charge.. and is a pet peeve) and the $30 overnight parking charge, only because their website specifically says self-parking is complimentary. We forgave these annoyances given the island had just entered lockdown again and we we so happy with everything else, particularly the warm and generous staff!…
We recently stayed here for 4 nights and 3 days in ocean front room 378 and loved it. The staff of both the hotel and restaurant were very welcoming, efficient and COVID safe. The location was very convenient, we walked 10 minutes to the Dollar rent a car site which was very affordable in these times at $100 total for a full-size for a day. We took day trips for a helicopter and hiking tours. In advance of our stay correspondence was a little delayed but they always responded fully in 1-2 days (a higher price hotel on another island was not as prompt.) Highly recommend and would definitely return. See Details for more on Room and Dining.
I took my wife here as part of our honeymoon and had a great time! The hotel was quiet and intimate while still providing a high level of luxury and nice amenities. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful (special thanks to Dustin at Red Salt for both making the dining experience really enjoyable and also immediately calling my room when I left my phone at the table at dinner), and the beach is only a few yards away. We had a deluxe ocean view room on the first floor which was wonderful. We had a great time watching the surfers from our private deck chairs and checking out the stars at night. We chose to do the package that included breakfast, and we loved eating at the restaurant each morning. We also ate at Red Salt twice for dinner because it was delicious. The only thing I would say is that there is a public walking path that runs along the length of the coast in front of the hotel, which does interrupt some of the privacy of the deluxe ocean view rooms. Another small nitpick is that you can only valet your car with no self-park option. That being said, all the valets were quick, kind, and even gave us recommendations and advice for our excursions! We can’t wait to return to the Ko’a Kea!…
Ko'a Kea is a small and quiet resort located on a beach and an easy drive to all island destinations. Great place for couples as the amenities are not great for families with small children (small pool, for example). While it sits in the middle of two beach fronts, the one to the right is steep and not for daytime sunbathing.
