Having been to Kauai twice before & staying at various large resort complexes, THIS was a very nice change of pace. having a cottage to ourselves was amazing - full kitchen, fridge, coffee machine (with coffee provided) was a nice bonus! Went shopping at the local market and made use of the many gas grills around the compound available for...

This is a lovely, quiet and quaint resort. No frills or fancy hotel amenities. Just Hawaii at its best -- and the way it used to be -- simple, welcoming and easy. We had a 2-bedroom cottage at the south edge of the property. It was actually a wheelchair access unit, so it had a ramp up to a side...

Loved it here! Old buildings are so charming and such a nice departure from the typical resort hotels. This environment can only he found here! You can get a Hilton, etc resort anywhere. We loved the historical aspect of the buildings and quiet taste of the way things used to be. The island was packed for the holidays but you...

First time in Kauai. We decided this place based on reviews and it was very accurate what we experienced. This is not a hotel type room, but a plantation cottage. Somewhat rustic, but it provides the environment of a village type, laid back experience. We got a ocean front cottage with two bed rooms next to the pool. Great ocean...

fantastic, felt like it was home. It is one of the few places you can still go that hasn't been too built up. Not sterile and so uptown you can't relax and be laid back. Easy to get to, on the ocean, pool, friendly and helpful staff, laundry, everything we needed. You can walk to town

Perfect place to get off the grid and be laid back.... all the way back. Our weekend it poured (rare in Waimea), but the parade went on. Lots of laughs, beautiful walk on property and to the beach and dinner on our porch. Lovely. Just Lovely!

Not only did I travel alone, I practically had the place to myself. There were certainly other guests around, but there were never more than a handful of people on the beach, the lawn, or hanging around outside their cottages. Perfect for the retreat I was hoping for. Great place to use as a "return base" from hiking the Canyon...

We had a cozy oceanfront cottage with two bed- and bathrooms, a nice living room, a well-equipped kitchen and a lovely veranda. Although the interior of the cottage was a bit dated, the beautiful surroundings definitely made up for that! They even have hammocks on the beach for the guests to enjoy.

This place was amazing and exceeded my expectations. I stayed in the studio with my girlfriend and it was perfect. Small kitchen and refrigerator with a comfy bed. You're really close to one of my favorite beaches in the world, Polihale, and Waimea Canyon is even closer. Will definitely be staying here again.

This is a very old property but clean with a kitchen which may be appealing to families wanting to save cost of eating out but the cost of rooms was no bargain. The beach is black sand and not appealing. I did not see any decent restaurants withing 20 miles. After one night I asked for a cancellation and after...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Private, individual plantation cottages set on a historic 27-acre coconut plantation in a beachside setting close to Kauai's famous Napali Coast and Waimea Canyon. Each self-contained cottage has been fully restored with modern appliances, full kitchens, and amenities. The simple, comfortable charm, genuine history and beautiful grounds allow guests to enjoy a unique experience unlike any other in the islands. Waimea Plantation Cottages offers beautiful settings for Wedding Celebrations, Anniversaries, Family Reunions, and Corporate Business meetings. Note: The restaurant will be closed temporarily as we remodel and transition the restaurant to a new restaurant operator and will re-open in mid-to-late fall of 2013. We apologize for this temporary inconvenience. During this transition, we suggest trying some of the other dining options in Waimea Town such as Wrangler's Steak House. But do come and try our new restaurant once it reopens! ... more   less
