Napili Kai offers a variety of room types to fit the needs of families and couples alike. All studios and suites are equipped with kitchenettes or full kitchens, and nearly all of Napili Kai’s rooms feature ocean views.

The room does not look dated as many reviews suggest. The rooms are well equipped with new appliances and every amenity you could need including candles, disinfecting spray, complimentary wipes, plenty of dishes and pots, umbrella, safe, and a great bathroom set (the shampoo and conditioner are actually great quality and moisturizing). The sliding screen doors in the room are beautiful and charming. The bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable. The decor is a traditional hawaiian theme with paintings of local sites. The pictures don't do justice to this charming and spacious room.
The location of the resort is also fantastic. The bay is beautiful and is a great site for swimming and snorkeling. Plenty of coral reef and fish not too far from shore. There is a local market and a farmers market nearby with front street only 15 mins away. This area feels much more laid back compared to Wailea and Kihei.
In addition to the beautiful grounds, the Sea House restaurant is a great feature. Nestled in between the guest rooms and the beach, the restaurant has a great view of the bay. The food is exceptional with a good range of options. Definitely do dinner and get the poke nachos. The breakfast is amazing, personal favorite was the Honolua breakfast with some coffee.
If it isn't already clear, we would definitely recommend this resort to friends and family! We had a great honeymoon made possible by the meticulous care and attention of Napili Kai Beach Resort staff. Thank you!!
The beach here is usually calm and great for kids and older folks. The other end of the small bay has more wave action if that's what the kids want. The snorkeling is great here. If you don't see turtles here walk to the bay south of Napili.
The staff is kind and helpful, the grounds are beautiful, the sunsets are amazing and, there are several activities to socialize with staff and guests and family or just hang on the beach. It is a quiet place at night.
A restaurant and a snack shop are on site and outdoors. There is a ABC store with minimal groceries and a deli, and a Grocery store and strip mall all within walking distance. Lahina is a 15 minute drive or 30 minute bus ride away.
During this Pandemic they are wiping down all the pool/beach furniture after every use and all staff wear face coverings. I felt very safe.
Now is the time to come far less people on the beach! Just plan a week in advance of your flight how and where to get your COVID test. It is assuring that everyone on the plane is negative COVID and locals are very respectful of all pandemic precautions.
Great restaurant on site. It appears reservations are needed at least a week ahead for noon and evening. Great breakfast which was on the higher side, but not bad since it affords a fabulous beach view.
Some snorkeling. Nice boogie boarding waves on this public, but secluded bay. The location is close to the end of Maui's west shore developments, so not near the traffic as found around Kaanapali and Lahaina. We liked that there were virtually no dogs on the beach and property. Evidently, we're not the only travelers that are not dog people. Family atmosphere during the week of our stay. Not a party place, which is fine for us.
Less than 5 minutes to groceries and other local small eateries and a killer coffee place. Another cool feature is a small performance pavilion on site that offers local hula dancing one evening and a great ukulele and traditional music show.
The only downside is the awful taxes and fees (17%) tacking on nearly $100/day. We'd love to go back.
The staff greeting us were friendly - the front desk manager has worked here since the early 80s.
There are four pools - one large and three smaller pools. The large pool has a children’s swimming pool and hot tub. There’s a separate adults only hot tub. The snack bar is located near the large pool.
There are a number of activity areas including a puzzle table, putting green, shuffleboard and more.
Chairs are available to take on the beach. Towels are provided.
We enjoyed a happy hour at the Sea house. Honestly the view from our room was so incredible we ended up having cocktails on our patio most evenings.
The room has a number of really thoughtful touches including a reusable grocery bag, a large cooler, and a hanging rack for towels and swimsuits.
The famed Merrimans restaurant is right next door. The Kapalua coastal walking trail can be accessed from the hotel without getting in your car.
We’re planning our next visit.
If you’re looking for a quiet area that screams paradise this place us for you. If your preference is large towering resorts with water slides this isn’t the place for you.
The room was upgraded with a killer view, it’s an older place but was spotless and well equipped. The on-site restaurant was good, the staff was great and you can’t beat the free use of snorkel gear for use in beautiful Napili bay. Mahalo Napili Kai for such a great stay
We paid the $450 onetime supplement to guarantee our unit. #237 is a one bedroom ocean front suite located in the Puna wing. Like a shotgun house, we could see all the way from one end of the unit, down the corridor, to the very end. Ocean side had the king bed and parking lot side had twin beds. This was great for spreading our bags and storing things.
Checking in was very pleasant with the desk help helping to drive to our unit in order to carry our bags up the stairs. Of course we were immediately impressed by the immediacy of the ocean view and adjacent foliage. A kitchenette guaranteed us a few meals prepared in our unit, while we sampled breakfasts, lunches, and dinners in the legendary Sea House restaurant. Finding our way to various parts of the complex gave us not only exercise but a chance to explore much of the vegetation. We signed up for a floral/grounds tour and were treated to learning about the plants. Each of us got enough clippings to assemble a bouquet.
I need to point out a couple of shortcomings. Maui is experiencing a drought, yet the water pressure inside our unit guaranteed waste. Our lanai, although spacious, had no table for outdoor meals. Two chaise lounges and a chair simply did not allow for the table shown on the resort’s website. I would also recommend that the resort provide shuttle service to the immediate area to eliminate the often congested roads.
But this is a special place with some of the best service in the county. It actually started with the four gracious reservationists and ended with a heartfelt checkout. I hope that the owners of 237 will provide an outdoor table and that grounds crew can work on the water pressure.
