We were three couples in three rooms with Garden View. One couple's room was very shabby, ours was okay and the third was good. The couple with the shabby room upgraded to Ocean View for only $40 / night (~$200 instead of $160). If you are not trying to save money, it is a great deal. The room and views of their new unit were much much better. However, this is a condo unit and each place is independent of any other. The management staff were very nice and took care of some minor problems but had no control over the state of the rooms. We don't know if the other ocean view rooms are as nice as the one our friends got. But overall, good value for money.

Paki Maui is nicely located. We stayed in #102. Owner offered on VRBO. Great view! Easy access from parking lot. Easy walk to pool and ocean. Well stocked, close to everything. I would stay again! Had a great time!

We travel to Maiu every June and have rented hotel rooms, condos, to homes. This year, I was a little behind and started looking for accommodations a bit late. I found Paki Maui and signed on to Trip Advisor to read reviews on a hotel that I had already booked for 15 days. I was horrified to read the reviews about dirty rooms, stained carpet, outdated appliances and furniture, and crime. I had already committed to the deposit, so we took our chances.

We arrived in early afternoon, before check in time. Not a problem, "your room is ready". We were in a 2 bedroom/2 bath ocean front condo, Unit 322. It had been recently redecorated with new tile, new appliances. No carpet, other than oriental style rugs in the bedrooms. The icemaker was leaking and it was repaired in a timely fashion.

The ocean views from the lanais (2) were breathtaking. We simply left all our doors and windows open to enjoy the Maui trade winds and to hear the surf. Our kids snorkled on the reef just outside the hotel. The pool is nice, and has three picnic tables, a charcoal grill along with two gas grills for tenants to use. Especially nice if you get tired of going out to expensive dinners.

This hotel is located next door to a public beach. Weekends were full of happy Hawaiians BBQing and enjoying the ocean. Nice chance to get a some local flavor of the island. Frequently, we would see a security officer checking the hotel and parking lot. We did not have one issue about security, not to say it doesn't happen.

So, I was relieved that the condo was not the "hole" as I expected. The price was reasonable for the time of year (June), and we would stay there again. I should mention that, while we were checking out, a couple asked to see our condo for their stay. The Staff were happy to change the couple's room.

When you book at Paki Maui, expect that each unit it individually owned and some may be nicer than others, but hey, just ask for a change. The staff is very accommodating.

p.s. A great take out find is the Honokowi Deli across the street. The owner was the executive chef at the Kapalua Bay Club, and opened this tiny deli. You will be in for a culinary delight. We especially love the Lemon Caper Mahi Mahi, and the Sausage and Peppers with Pasta. If you are in the mood for a great mainland hamburger, try Johnny's in Kaanapali. It's a little place with a couple of pool tables and a bar. Kids are welcome. For an elegant dinner try the Pineapple Grill in Kapalua, or Pacific O in Lahaina.

We just returned from a one week stay in unit 120. The only reason we stayed here is because we were traveling with 2 other couples who were staying there. This property is old. We knew that going into this trip. Our unit was on the ground floor and twice during our stay we found large dead cockroaches on the floor. Yuck! We have stayed at other properties on Maui and have never had this issue. There is no A/C in the unit. Each room has a fan but we needed to keep the window in the bedroon open at night and heard every sound in the adjacent parking lot. The screen doors leading to the patio need to be replaced as they don’t stay in the track and don’t have a lock.we only used the frig so I can’t comment on the other appliances in the kitchen. There is no beach, just a grassy area. The pool is small and quite cold last week. Nice bbq area by the pool. We won’t be staying at this property again. There is a laundry facility and an app to charge the washing fees but the WiFi is horrible in the laundry room. They need to put a router in the laundry room.

This is the second time I’ve stayed at Paki Maui in 10 years. All I can say is check the photos as each unit varies greatly in cleanliness and modernization. 221 has a beautiful kitchen, nice furniture, clean floors and carpets, and nice lanai furniture. The kitchen is well stocked with plates, utensils, and pots/pans. Washer/dryer in unit. There’s also salt/pepper and other little cooking needs in the pantry. There’s Patio chairs boogie boards, as well as pool noodles and floats. Not much in the way of cards or games but that’s ok, plenty else to do here. Right across the street there’s lots of shops and there’s and ABC convenience store within walking distance. The facility itself is wonderful for swimming in the pool and cooking at the bbq. I wish I had these kitchenaid grills at home! The grass is plush and there’s a few palm trees for shade. I recommend staying in an ocean view unit as there’s no AC. It kinda sucks that the beach access stairs are closed off but there’s a nice public beach right next door. I totally recommend this unit (GET UNIT 221!) and hope to come again!

We had a pleasant 3 night stay in January and enjoyed our beachfront view. No issues while we were there. Unit was a bit worn in terms of maintenance but nothing that impacted our stay. We had some ants one day, but otherwise generally clean. Would have rated as 4 stars, except for experience after our stay. I had declined the "damage waiver fee" when we booked. It was my wife, myself, and our adult son. I thought likelihood of any damage from our 3 night stay was low and we had no incidents while we were there. When I reviewed my credit card statement I saw we were subsequently charged $68 dollars after our stay. We were never notified or advised of any damage, our card was just charged. When I called, the front desk person told me it was for damage to a coffee table. When I said we we had no incidents or noticed anything, I was advised the manager would call me back. No response. I called a second time and spoke with front desk person, again advised manager would follow up and no response. The apartment has a lot of deferred maintenance, again nothing that impacted our stay, but seems like this is a scam if you don't pay for the optional damage waiver you are going to pay for whatever random "damage" they will attribute to you. Either don't stay here or just bite the bullet and pay their "damage waiver fee" upfront.

We had a very difficult time actually getting to Maui, due to COVID regulations. When we finally arrived we were looking forward to showering and finding some comfort in our room. We had been in the airport for 36 hours and rest was what we needed. When we arrived there were not enough towels for my family, the bar in the sink area of the restroom was broken and hanging off the wall, all drawers in sink area were broken and falling out of the dresser if they were opened, a bunch of junk in the closet (broken fans, a large TV, random wood pieces) and this prevented us from storing our baggage, At 0800 in the morning, there was huge truck cutting and mulching operation outside our door. This was so loud that others were outside their rooms just as upset as we were, why would this be scheduled so early in the morning when vacationers are trying to recover from jet lag? There was no management on site every time we would go to the office for a parking pass. This unit was a disaster. If I were the owner of this unit I would be quite disappointed in the facility management. Where to the management fees go? I would never return to this site. Don't waste your time looking for a place here.

We stayed in 117. The courtyard garden is beautiful : full of flowers and the peaceful sound of the waterfall. Hot tub was hot and the pool nice and warm. Nice oceanfront with chairs. The beach park next door has 2 reefs and lovely swimming and tide pools without much surf. ANY thing you might want it is within walking distance: massage, mani pedi, tour operators, cute shops, shave ice, coffee, farmers market store ( yummy açaí bowls) , ABC store and a large grocery. Close to many fine beaches and the beach trail.

No need for AC due to fans and breeze. Pleasant decor and perfectly functional. We appreciated the beach towels and lots of beach equipment ( chairs, mats, umbrella and lots of noodles, toys and snorkel gear). This is not a 5 star resort. But if you are here to see Maui and want great value and location: this is it. We had considerate neighbors on either side so that was fortunate.

The location was great and front desk was nice and helpful, these units are individually owned and the one we had was terrible!!! Nothing has been changed since the 80’s including the dirty/stained shag carpet!!! Cupboard doors missing in the kitchen, paint flaking off on the doors, bathroom cabinet old & tired and on and on ….the place was a dump! Too bad because the location was lovely and that is why we over looked it and stayed but I can not recommend unit #108

We stayed in unit 420. This unit was updated but the bedding was stained and dingy. One of the bath towels left for us to use had blue gunk on it. Hard to feel comfortable when bedding and towels aren’t clean. Found a dead roach in the unit and saw in the instructions to take trash out nightly and put all food away, seems like they are aware they have a pest issue. There was a rat by the swimming pool along with large roaches in the pool. There is no ac. The only way to get airflow is to have the front and back door open but that isn’t possible at night so it gets uncomfortable. Some units have a screen door on the front door but this unit does not. The grass area by the ocean was nice but the stairs leading down to the water are blocked off.

Be glad to. Read my complaint in the March 1, 2015 review and that will explain it. It's pretty much all about the money.....those that set on top with it (owner Paki Maui) don't care about those that helped them get there. I refuse to be treated like this, I feel everyone should take a stand when being mistreated. In this case my children were in the middle of it and with me that's not a good thing, not good at all. They ruined it for them at the start and pissed me off in the process. So who's up for staying at Paki Maui?
