Overall we enjoyed our stay here. We wanted to be central to everything we did on the island and get more of a cultural immersive experience as opposed to a large resort and we were happy with our decision. The town is great with some easy shopping and decent food options. Make sure you try Vana which is attached to the hotel (awesome bar and sushi), Paia Bay coffee for breakfast or lunch, surf club for breakfast and coffee and of course Paia Fish Market and Mamas Fish House. If you don’t have a reservation call at 9:30 in the morning and ask if they have had cancellations. They can usually sneak you in if your not picky on the time.

Hotel location is great for the Road to Hana, Haleakalā national Park and any snorkel tours over to Molokini.

There’s a cute little market (Mana foods) about 3 blocks from the hotel if you need a few snacks or beverages for your room. Be sure to check it out.

While the beach is not the most picturesque we also understand we’re not staying at the Four seasons. We went to other beach’s a few days but this always did the trick for a hassle free trip from our room which takes you down a cute little walkway outfitted with a ice machine, seating with fire pits, Loungers, and outdoor showers. Just be mindful of the neighbors and respect the beach. Every evening turtles would crawl up the beach right in front of the hotel. If you do plan on on swimming at this beach walk down to your left a couple hundred yards where the surf is less rough and rocks are not present.

cons:
our room was great, we had kitchenette and two patios but we met with 4 other guests who all complained about their room being terribly small. I would confirm with the hotel before booking.

Parking is limited and they have reserved spots but that doesn’t necessarily deter the other tourists front parking there.

We had a few things go missing from our room while we were out (not a huge deal) just a phone charger and some food. I’ll give the hotel the benefit of the doubt.

If your wanting a beachfront view. This isn’t your place. It’s only a 100 yards from your room but it is not beachfront.

Lastly, we happened to pop on the local real estate office in Paia and it appears most of some of this hotel is for sale. So if your been wanting visit and have been on the fence about this place. I would definitely say book it.

We were looking for a boutique hotel to enjoy our Hawaiian experience. Paia Inn did not disappoint. I do dread writing a great review only because I’d like to keep this gem to myself.
Location was fantastic, as we enjoyed wandering around Paia , shopping and the quiet beach access only to sun along with the beautiful green turtles.
The bar service at Vana was top notch. Nash was a wonderful mixologist, and the owner of the Inn and Restaurant was on site to ensure our visit was terrific.
Our room was #15 and we had no trouble with noise. But we also were partaking in all the town had to offer, and the beds / linens were so comfortable we had no trouble sleeping.
Do I recommend visiting? 100% ... but please don’t tell too many people because we will be back!

We stayed in the Deluxe Room Town View for three nights in January and had a great time. I only have three things to add to the many glowing reviews. First, the beach experience is exceptional. From the Inn you take a charming and well tended path through the Inn's cottages and arrive at a lovely flat yard/garden with about six big chaise lounges , a round table and chairs, some umbrellas, many folding beach chairs and a collection of pretty much anything you'd want at the beach --towels, snorkeling gear, boogie boards, sand shovels, etc. This relaxing area is set a bit up above the beach so you can hang out up there in comfort while you watch the action in the water. I love to lay out on the beach but my DH doesn't like the sand or sun for very long, so this configuration was perfect for us. He was happy surfing the web up in the comfy and shaded lounges while I sunned on the sand below. There is a shower for rinsing off before heading back up to the Inn. It is a public beach that feels like a private one. When we were there it was definitely a surfing beach, though perhaps when it's less windy it is calmer. If you want a calm beach for kids or just floating around, get directions to the nearby "Baby Beach" which is more pool-like. Second, our room was small. I actually felt claustrophobic for the first minute I was in it, but it was extremely well appointed and designed with a big window and there was a very pleasant sitting area right next door. Within about 15 mins I was quite happy with our space but there's no getting around the fact that it was small. Third, one of the reasons we wanted to stay here was because of the "walkable" location, and we did really like that. However, it is a very busy spot and the town seems to always be jumping. Maybe not so true at other times of the years. The sidewalks were usually crowded with people and there are only two main streets so while we loved being there we were ready to head to a quieter place after our three nights. One last thought, the hipster video on the Inn's home page didn't reflect our experience. We don't match the demographics that video is clearly marketing but we still felt very comfortable and welcome.

We booked for 3 nights in part inspired by a beautiful website, then seeing a large number of glowing visitor reviews, plus positive mentions in travel guides. We experienced quite a gap between the promise of our research and our experience.

PROS include not being a large, impersonal resort and immediate location smack in Paia town. A big CON is the challenge of utilizing a collection of buildings between the main street and the beach in a manner that renders all rooms up to the overall reputation.

We booked a 2 bedroom suite that on paper looked promising, but proved to be located behind the restaurant and landry. We understood we hadn't booked the beachfront cottage, but for the price, we found the accommodation a disappointment.

Bottom line: We have to believe based on all we read that many of the rooms and suites are lovely. We recommend asking for clarity about the location and layout of your specific space.

We would add, importantly, that we were not shy about voicing our concerns to ownership, and they were very responsive and open to our feedback.

The Inn is every positive thing that others have written in their reviews. I will not repeat that.
Extra Charges - We stayed there two nights early in May. We made our reservation through Booking.com because we were on a last minute trip. After we got home we received our email receipt and noticed it cost about $60 more per night than we were quoted on Booking. Not a big deal, but it already is expensive. The extra charges were for "amenities", not sure what those were, maybe the coffee and tea in the common room or towels on the beach chairs. The second charge were described, when we asked by email, as something charged in addition to the Booking rates. No other explanation. Just so you know. We regret we did not book direct, but had a flight cancellation and had to come up with a place to stay in two hours.
Other minor issues were that I went out of the building to the beach area at 7:00 AM and could not get back into the building at 7:30 AM because the second exterior door was locked and our exterior door key did not open it. There is a building door and an outer fence door. I had to call my wife to come down to get back in. We were not given a tour of building to explain access.
As others have said, the water temperature in the shower is erratic at best and there is one, small garbage can in the room, in the bathroom and it was small. Minor issues, but annoying.
Have a great vacation.

We stayed 2 nights in the petite room. I should have noticed the square footage - I would have never imagined a room and bathroom so small. The shower is tiny and the curtain clings to you and leaves you only 1 foot of space to bathe. It is a quaint cute hotel that is very clean and the front desk staff is very friendly and nice. We had a wonderful tour of the property when we checked in. My only real complaint is the size of the room for the high cost and the fact that you have to enter the hotel after hours thru the busy restaurant that doesn't have a clear path or make you feel welcome. We actually had to have 2 customers move to make it thru. The restaurant staff and patrons looked at us like we were crazy. It is a strange set up that I would think would be a fire hazard.

Absolutely incredible wouldn’t even describe this place. From the moment we entered that driveway to park my wife and I knew this place was gonna be incredible. We had been touring Maui for 10 days till this point and had so many wonderful experiences but the Paia Inn set the bar to an amazing new height. The receptionist was so friendly and welcoming. A seamless check in and a very pleasant walk around of the facility. The room was quaint and well cleaned with a wonderfully firm yet soft bed that felt like laying in the clouds. I personally loved the coffee machine that was just outside our door. The beach amenities was so perfect for us as the beach is so important to us to be able to relax and chill. We Loved the outdoor shower And sitting area. The short walk to the beach was so cool. Parking was always easy and accessible. Really want to that Paia INN for the hospitality and warmth. It was the highlight of our trip. Thank you. We would definitely come back. Cheers from Calgary Ab

The Paia Inn is really amazing. The rooms are beautiful, the people are super friendly, and the town itself has a great vibe to it. You can walk to the beach in one minute.

The restaurant in the inn, Vana, also has incredible food and cocktails. I went there multiple times

I stayed in a few different rooms due to myself being slow at booking more nights, and they were always able to accommodate me. When I would check out of my one room, they would have the other room ready for me ahead of the normal check in time.

Overall great experience and I will be back when I am in Maui again.

On a recent trip to Maui my wife and I decided to explore Paia by spending a couple nights there vs. our typical "drive through" visit for lunch or on en-route to OGG. We could not have been happier with our decision to stay at the Paia Inn.

Throughout our entire stay the hotel staff were lovely and accommodating. Upon arrival we were escorted to our room and then provided with a tour of the property.

We had reserved the 1 bedroom garden view king suite which was ground level, and easily accessible. The Inn has maintained it's original colonial charm and we found the room decor and furnishings consistent with that style. It was also clean, spacious and fully appointed. There was a small semi private outdoor sitting area that came with a friendly cat who very badly wanted to visit us!.

For guests of the Inn there's a gated, private walkway to the beach and given the the very few access points, the beach was nearly private and likely unknown to most tourists.

Although we didn't dine there we were able to visit the on-site restaurant, Vana, for cocktails. The restaurant was bustling and the food looked outstanding. (Sushi and tapas.) We definitely will be dining there during our next visit in February.

For those first timer's to Paia, the town itself is definitely worth a 2 day visit and there's no better place to stay than the Paia Inn. It's centrally located amidst art galleries, funky apparel shops, coffee shops and restaurants that should satisfy anyone. (And for sports fans there's even a new sports bar in town, a rarity on the island.)

We regret not having stayed on previous trips and will be returning in 2023. And for those who arrive in Maui mid-day, I'd recommend staying in Paia your first night upon arrival. Relax, unwind, shop and dine before venturing off to Ka'anapali or Wailea with the tourist hordes.

We stayed at the Paia Inn for 3 days and loved the town and found it a great jumping off spot for Haleakala National Park, the crazy drive around West Maui and the Road to Hana. There are lots of cute restaurants and shops nearby including the very awesome Mana Foods. The waterfront area on the beach is lovely and we saw turtles every time we went. The staff was relaxed, friendly and helpful. We stayed in Room 6, which was towards the back of the property and had a bedroom, living area and kitchenette. We enjoyed having the extra living space and being able to eat breakfast in our room. It was also very quiet.

Aloha - if you are not renting a car for the entire stay, I'd think taxi or Uber/Lyft would be best way to get to Paia. As to a car rental company that will deliver a car to you- suggest you check with Enterprise.

No idea maybe trip advisor doesn’t keep up to date. My advice is to call them and ask what is up. They are easy to work with and might give you a break or a different room. I can’t stress enough calling them direct. Hope you can stay there I found it wonderful !! and Paia a cute town. EB
