The Spyglass House is my absolute favorite place to stay on Maui! It has so much charm everywhere you look from it's stained glass windows, cute furnishings, and interesting architecture. The ocean front location is incredible - you can stare at the ocean for hours, watch the whales spouting, and then be out in Paia - Maui's best town -... More

My stay at Spyglass house was exactly what i had imagined! It was a quiet, laid back relaxing expereince with white-sandy beaches, pristine waters, and fabulous views. The location was set on a hill top with amazing landscape, beautiful birds, and the ocean waves splashing in the background. The interior of Spyglass was very inviting, clean rooms, comfortable bedding, seating... More

Thank you Liam and Poni for your wonderful hospitality during my stay at the “Mermaid Room” at the Spyglass House in Pai’a, Maui. My time there was nothing short of paradise. Falling asleep and waking up to the sight and sounds of the waves on the north shore was exactly what I needed to relax and take in all the... More

If you are going to Maui for windsurf, surf kiting or yoga, bikesyceling or just for hiking or drive around on the island the SpyglassHouse is the most perfect place. For me was Spyglass House so perfect that I will be back there for a long term stay in 2010. I still remember my first day there waking up and... More

the spyglass house was the perfect place for me. I travel all the time, and look to stay at places that offer near by yoga classes, are down to earth, and make me feel like I am not just another tourist. The spyglass house is situated on a point with one of the best views in Maui. The room I... More

Spyglass was the silver lining of my visit to Maui....to be in paradise and staying in my dream (anyones!) dream house made the experience so much more special...I'm from Ireland and came to Maui to surf, kitesurf and soak up the aloha!! I worked on Kanaha beach and took the 10 minute bus ride each day, for only a dollar... More

Beware that while you book for Spyglass hosue you may end up at another location, next to Mama's Fish house, by the highway with view of rooftops and a dump. Make sure that you in fact will be staying at Spyglass house, very disappointed.

When we are full at the oceanfront property we refer people to our other options. This guest chose to stay at our budget accommodation next to mamas fish house. It is a famous five star restaraunt, not a dump as this review implies. The room was $90 for the night, and they looked at the photos before booking. I hope... More

This place has an awesome location! Great view of the ocean and fun watching the turtles outside. While having coffee in the morning you better go outside to watch though the windows are so dirty its hard to see. In general the building is run down and in need of a a good solid cleaning. Beds are saggy, old sheets... More

Any innkeeper strives to make their guests as happy as they can, and it for sure is heart wrenching to read this review. There can be winter storms in february and high swells in the ocean. Since we are only just ten feet from the waters edge, sometimes you can not wash the windows quick enough before they get wind... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Spyglass Maui Rentals are two, well cared for homes, right next door to each other, in the middle of all of the North Shore beaches and less than a mile from Paia town. The houses are owned by a two good friends and long time Maui residents, Liam McCormick and Poni Brendan, who call themselves family. Our on-sight manager, Sabrina, and full time housekeeper, Patti are here to assist you. The rentals are clean, comfortable and will make you feel like you are spending time in a "home away from home" rather than a resort hotel. Our focus is to create a lovely environment so that our guests can have a wonderful base from which to enjoy their vacation and explore all that is beautiful and special about Maui. The Gingerbread House, at the rear of the property, is a very unique, two story, one bedroom house with a lanai off the second floor bedroom and an outdoor patio on the ground level. The Green Turtle House can be rented as a ONE or TWO bedroom house and can accommodate up to 6 guests. We try to provide everything that you will need to enjoy your vacation and leave your cares at home. Please contact us if you need additional information or have specific questions. We are happy to help. Mahalo! ... more   less

“Keep a window or two open or maybe a ceiling fan running while you are gone during the day otherwise when you return it will be hot and humid.”

“We were really lucky: We paid for one of the rooms that had a shared bath, and no one joined us the two nights we were there, so we got an entire house all to ourselves. Before you book, consider e-mailing the owner and seeing if she can give you any heads up about how booked the place is. It would be a shame to pay extra for the suite if both other bedrooms stayed open, and if no one else is renting any of the space for the time you're there, you should definitely get a room there! An amazing deal.”
