Hosts are friendly outgoing people, well versed in the beauties and benefits of their area (at our request, they sent us off to a for a local lobster "pound" for a terrific dinner in a spectacular setting!) We came back to a warm peaceful living room, with the fireplace blazing, and tea available for the making -- allowing us to... More

We helped close the Hearthside down for the season this year- being among the last guests to check out on their last day. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Brian and Catherine were very welcoming & able to answer any questions about local sights/restaurants, etc. Breakfast was delicious... probably could have skipped lunch, but why would you want to do that on... We stayed for 4 nights in the Winston Churchill room with its own porch. Alas, due to the rain and time of year we didn't use the porch for very long. Brian and Catherine are a great team from the personal orientation to Bar Harbor to arranging for us to see the 1st presidential debate at a local bar for... More

It was our first stay at a Bed and Breakfast and we really didn't know what to expect. We were not let down. The room was perfect for us. Immaculate, well appointed and very comfortable. The bed was very plush and a nice place to quickly fall asleep at the end of a great day. The breakfasts were fantastic and... More

Brian and Catherine, and their in, were amazing! From the moment we arrived, Brian made us feel very welcome and began giving us suggestions for outings and restaurants on the island. They weren't intrusive, but checked in with us every day and answered any questions we had. The breakfasts were delicious and filling, and Catherine always offered us larger portions... More

This establishment was the perfect combination of historical charm and modern day convenience. Everywhere you looked there was some delightful charming detail such as an antique iron for a doorstep, dress dummy at the end of the hall, or Victorian dollhouse. We stayed in The Glass Menagerie which contained a gorgeous window seat with lead inserts and a private balcony.... More

Our stay in Bar Harbor was wonderful due in large part to Brian and Catherine and their B&B. The inn is lovely and comfortable with a very warm and welcoming feeling. Situated close to downtown, it was within walking distance to great restaurants and attractions. The hosts are very gracious and accommodating, helpful with sightseeing information and reservations. The 3... More

The hosts were very welcoming and accommodating. Upon arriving Brian made dinner reservations for us at a local restaurant that was very enjoyable. When leaving at 6:30 he was up early and provided us with a homemade apple cinnamon muffin and a fruit smoothie. Beautifully decorated Inn. Rooms were spacious. Close to downtown area. Would highly recommend this B&B to... More

The owner/hosts are great friendly people doing a really wonderful job here. We stayed in the Romeo Juliet, which was a large very nicely furnished room with a huge bath that was modern and well designed. There was more storage and hanging space than you would usually expect. The room had an air conditioner but the ceiling fan was more... More

We can't say enough about our stay at the Hearthside Inn in Bar Harbor. Catherine and Brian made us feel at home and welcome from the moment we stepped into the front door. Brian is a very valuable wealth of information on Mount Desert Island and the surrounding area. Without his suggestions and tips we would have missed a lot... More
