San Francisco now is such an expensive place (for both visitors and long-term residents), here you really should expect to pay more and get less. A dorm bed in a crowded hostel can easily cost more than US$50 (and usually the prices you first see...More

Clean hostel in the middle of the city! Nice staff, free dinner, good company. As well the airport shuttle is cheap and easy to book. Showers & bathrooms are clean as well and you‘ll always find a free one.

I have booked a double private room at the Adelaide and it was located.... at the Dakota. Nice building but noisy (at the corner of two busy streets). I understood that all the private double rooms are the Dakota.

Be careful, if the adelaide is overbooked and they transfer you to Dakota Hotel, most lockers in the room I was in there were broken.
