Our stay at the Inn on Castro was very short but oh, so sweet and we will definitely be returning! Everything was immaculate, the amenities were thoughtful and plentiful, the full breakfast was outstanding, and the service impeccable. The only thing I feel important to mention to future guests who may not be aware is that the Castro district of...

My husband and I stayed in the White room for 2 nights. The 3 staff we met at the Inn were warm, attentive and charming. Breakfast was delicious with lots of choice and it was fun to meet and talk with some of the other guests. Our room had great views over the city, a comfortable king sized bed and...

My daughter, her wife and their wonderful little boy live right down the hill, so I love staying at the Inn. It is charming, comfortable, and the breakfasts are fabulous. Two hot breakfast items---eggs or pancakes, often, and great fruit, cereal, etc. But the best is meeting the people at breakfast...from all over the world, and generally well-traveled, so fun...

I planned a surprise trip into San Fran for my husband's birthday only to arrive at the Inn on Castro to find our room upgraded!!! We got a warm welcome from the proprietor and a quick tour of the charming home. At once we felt comfortable and excited. Our room was full of character, charm, cleanliness and there were small...

We stopped over in San Francisco for a few days en-route to New Zealand from the UK and went to the Inn on Castro following a recommendation from a friend - very glad we did. The place has a very relaxed home from home feel and made for a great base. The location is also great - close to the...

My partner and I stayed here at the end of January. The location is perfect. A short walk from plenty of restaurants, bars, gift shops and clothing stores. You can see the Castro Theatre from the front door! It is a very charming hotel. Very clean and tidy. It feels like a family home. It's very quiet. You wouldn't know...

You really won't go wrong if you stay here. The house is beautifully decorated and our room was spacious and had everything we needed. Our host was very helpful during our stay and gave us maps and information about what was going on in San Francisco. The breakfasts were excellent consisting of fruit, yoghurt and cereals and then cooked eggs...

This is the second time I've stayed here and had another wonderful experience. Yon really makes you feel at home and is a wealth of information on what's going on around SF during the stay. As always, the breakfasts are wonderful gourmet that he cooks himself and I think is everyone's favorite part of staying there. The rooms are very...

My first time. It was perfect. Usually stay at one of the Westins, Ritz, Meridien or Four Seasons, but I actually think that I will stay at Inn when I can in the future. The entire city was sold out downtown for a conference, so I was scrambling to find a place to stay. I loved the location and it...

Staying in The Castro

Neighbourhood Profile
The Castro
A flourishing commercial area that acts as San Francisco's LGBT community center and cultural heart, the Castro is a neighbourhood welcome to everyone. As one of the first predominantly LGBT neighbourhoods in the United States and currently its largest, it remains one of the epicenters of activism in the nation. Grand theatres and glitzy shops now compete with bars and fashionable eateries for attention, drawing visitors from around the world to the bright rainbow flag acting as its beacon.
