Small (40 or so rooms), old-fashioned, cosy and charming hotel. I read reviews that took points off for no air conditioning - I'm a European so I can't bear air conditioning so I booked immediately! True, it's not the most modern decoration but everything is very clean, all staff were nice and helpful. I also read that parking was an...

Was initially disappointed with the room but it grew on me as did the price of the hotel. The hotel is situated at the upper end of the Marina, not too close nor too far from anywhere. The rooms are a bit antiquated but it offered what we were looking for - clean sheets, comfortable bed, cable TV (flat screen),...

Ok if you're not expecting too much. The bed was comfortable. Room was small but clean. Breakfast was disappointing. Not much to choose from. Coffee tasted terrible. Priced reasonably for what you get.

PROS Location. - Perfect location away from the hassle and bustle of union square and dodgy bits. Hotel is close the beach areas and also fisherman's Warf. Easily walkable and the parks just down the road. Lots of cafes around. Staff friendly enough. CONS Rooms very very old and outdated. Big backed TVs and everything is just plain old. No...

First want to show you two pictures, this is perfect view from our room and continental breakfast (bread, eggs and butter) every day plus plastic knives and forks...seriously? The receptionist was pretty mean and rude, I sent notes there that we will be at the hotel around 1 because of our flight and when we came there she didn't give...

Room clean, elevator excellent but filthy, bananas good, and coffee good. Common areas dirty, toaster in breakfast room missing parts, maintenance done poorly or not done, inadequate hot water, carpet throughout is a mess, tv remote didn’t work properly, only one washcloth, only one handtowel, and toilet didn’t flush properly. Such a nice old hotel if someone would do simple...

The Inn's pictures make it look like a boutique hotel. While the location is good in the Marina district, the rooms are dirty, unkempt, and not maintained. In the elevator, the accumulated bugs and gunk on the light created a 12 inch round debris area blocking the light. The one small window in the room we were given had grimy...

We had a plan to come to San Francisco for our friend's birthday celebration for the weekend, but because snow storm was coming our way, we decided to get out early. So, at the last minute, we had to add a night and found this 2 star hotel which had some good reviews compare to many other 2 star hotels....

This old hotel is in the Marina District, about 1.5 miles walking distance from the Wharf area and near the transit lines. We parked in the Lombard street garage about 3 blocks away. There is some street parking with limited hours. We got a room facing Lombard Street for a really good price (<70$/night). I wanted a low price and...

We stayed here for five nights in December. The good thing is that you can walk to Fisherman's Wharf in about twenty minutes. The hotel itself is an old converted apartment building which is in dire need of a refreshment. The carpets are quite dirty and the paint is peeling in the bathrooms. The showers are too short and lack...

Staying in Marina District

Neighbourhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighbourhood into a party-going hotspot.
