Like many of the reviewers on this site I have to agree that the location of Marina Inn is probably its best attraction. Located in a quiet and safe area just off Lombard Street it's in walking distance to Fisherman's Wharf (ten minutes or so) and is a stones throw away from a muni (bus) stop which will take you...

Marina Inn's location is its best asset. Located in a nice and safe environment, I had no problems getting around. However, the bathroom is badly maintained. I found rusty pipes and spiders in the bathroom. Breakfast is really pathetic - coffee, diluted orange juice, eggs, bread with jam or butter. Once the jam ran out, the cook said "no more...

Great value hotel located walking distance to Fishermans Wharf and right on Lombard St. The rooms aren't anything special and the bathroom was a little dirty and had some ants at one point but fine for a short stay to see the sights in San Fran. Staff were friendly, breakfast was just toast and juice. Our room wasn't too noisy...

Generally decent hotel for the money. Location is safe and convenient. The staff is very friendly. Rooms size is OK.Overnight parking can be found. Parking a car during the day would probably be a nightmare, but we didn't need it. We rented 2 rooms - one double and one triple. The mattresses in double room were good. In the triple...

Excellent location, basic rooms but value for Money. Everything we needed for a crash pad. They could do with some plates for the toast in the morning !

Our first time of going to San Fransico was wonderful. My husband picked this quaint little hotel and we absolutely loved it!!! Everyone was friendly and very helpful. We were close enough to Fisherman's Wharf that we could walk to it. We looked for a place that would put us close yet we would have quiet when we wanted it....

We've stayed at this hotel several times over the past few years and I even wrote a review in 2009 but things have changed and after our recent three night visit I doubt that we will return. Just a few things that I find unacceptable, even for a budget hotel: wash cloths were not replaced in room and had to...

We've just stayed for 2 nights in Marina Inn while we're at SF. The main problem is the parking, since Marina Inn doeasn't have a parking place or parking lot. Receptionist was really helpful to find a place for the car at the nearby Travelodge hotel for 10 bucks a day. Our room was quiet (looking to Octavia str.), and...

We weren't expecing the Ritz when we booked this hotel, just a clean room with clean bedding. How disappointed we were, the smell that met us as we made our way to the room was awful. There were 4 of us and we had booked 2 rooms, in both rooms we found hairs in the basin, and stains on the...

Staying in Marina District

Neighbourhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighbourhood into a party-going hotspot.
