I'm sure I'm not alone in valuing Tripadvisor when planning my trip. I literrally read every review trying to find a hotel in San Francisco and struggled to work out the best location to stay. Tripadvisor seemed to say Union Sq was 'the heart' of San Fran but I found it just full of shops and I wasn't really in...

If you are the kind of travelers who do well in Euro-style budget hotels, then put this one on your list of SF options. The breakfast scene always offers a great opportunity to meet-up w/ other interesting visitors. This was our 5th stay here, this time we brought along Seattle friends (we reserved 2 rooms at $69 each), they also...

We stayed in Room 412 and found a dead bed bug in the sink area. We told the receptionist who was extremely apologetic but claimed that she had never heard this complaint. Upon reading a December 2009 review we now know that we were not the only unfortunate souls to experience this horrible occurance also in room 412. The receptionist...

Arrived early to be greeted rudely by the receptionist. We were told we could leave our bags around the corner by the office untill check in time, the receptionist didn't bother to check if the room was ready. Came back she still wasn't friendly. Room was tidy, cute bay windows. Bed was squeaky so were the neighbours as you could...

This “hotel” has it all—bedbugs (room 412), a fitfully -spitting shower head, cracked sink, and stopped-up bathtub drain (room 405), a hoodie-wearing surly lad behind the front desk, and customer service that will make your jaw drop in amazement! Here’s an example of what you can expect. You turn down the bed and find some blood-engorged insects frolicking away. You...

We stayed here while visiting our son who lives in the area. The location worked out well for our needs and plans. Nice area, within walking distance to stores, restaurants, and some tourist spots. The hotel is old but looks to have had some renovation work done in the rooms and some common areas. We requested a quiet room which...

This hotel was very small and quaint. It is within walking distance of Ghirardelli Square and Fisherman's Wharf. A good value hotel in San Francisco.

It had everything I wanted in the room: TV set, clock radio, telephone, hair dryer, air conditioner, and a good shower. Nice staff, very helpful and kind. Simple facilities, but with a snack machine, a snack bar and a hair/nail salon at the ground floor. Basic, but very good breakfast. Clean, safe and in a good location. I only missed...

When I booked the room on line I specified 3 people, and the reservations indicated that it's a reservation for 3 (I still have the copy). When we checked in, Yolanda was at the desk. When I asked her what beds we have in the room she told us that we have one queen bed. I told her that the...

Staying in Marina District

Neighbourhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighbourhood into a party-going hotspot.
