Chose this destination based on a restaurant down the street. Small rooms but perfect for one night. Had a late night drink in the bar, used the YMCA a couple of doors down for a great workout the next morning.

The hotel was cozy and inviting. Felt very rustic and historical. The rooms are quite small, no windows but very nice, clean and comfy. I prefer a larger room with windows but that would not keep me from staying here again. What I would come back for was the heated bathrooms! HOLY COW, that made my stay. Flip a switch...

For the price and location about what you would expect. A standard hotel, nothing more. But the location is great and the price is much better than most of the surrounding hotels. Just don't expect anything special. Rooms are very weird, ours had a sink next to the bed, but non in the bathroom

We have visited San Francisco many times, staying in many locations. This time in my research I found the Hotel Griffon in The Embarcadero. It didn't disappoint! From the moment we walked into this boutique hotel, with the busy pub, Perry's attached to it, I knew we had made the right choice. The staff was very accommodating, friendly and efficient....

We stayed at Hotel Griffon for two nights of our honeymoon. We left for Napa Valley after that. The rooms are definitely smaller, but they make the most of them and the amenities are wonderful! Loved the bathrobes! Location is very convenient to everything - we literally walked everywhere! We enjoyed the small, boutique feel of the hotel. We really...

We had a wonderful stay at the Griffon. The staff could not have been more friendly and considerate, our room was immaculate and attractive, and the location is perfect. The hotel has a lot of charm. We would be happy to stay here again if we return to San Francisco.

We had an executive suite this past weekend and it was a fabulous weekend to enjoy that suite - especially the outdoor terrace. Hotel Griffon is in a terrific location that is very quiet when it's time to sleep. Only two things I would change in the room was, 1) add a screen door to the terrace so one can...

This was the second of two hotels where we stayed on either side of our Yosemite trip. The hotel on the front side was the Orchard, and on the back side the day before we flew out, was the Hotel Griffin. We wanted to stay at local/non chain places, so we used Tripadvisor reviews to choose our locations. We arrived...

Staying in SoMa

Neighbourhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighbourhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighbourhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
