I stayed at the Mark Hopkins for four nights while I attending a conference next door at the Fairmont. Pleasant service, clean, good location, good value. They've done a good job of keeping the hotel up to date, but I admit I wasn't blown away. Still, it met my 5-star bar, though barely (the Fairmont across the street is among...

I stayed at the Intercontinental Mark Hopkins for 3 nights while touring the city. I liked the location since it was near many transportation hubs. The all lines of the famed trolley cars can be boarded within a couple of blocks of the hotel. It was easy to get to Union Square, Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf, and Pier 39. The hotel...

Each and every person, from the doorman to the bell hop, to the concierge and the servers in the restaurant and Top of the Mark, was absolutely top notch. Our corner suite provided a beautiful view of the bay and the city. The room was large and comfortable. Our room service breakfast was delicious and served at EXACTLY the time...

Where to start so I'll try and set the context. I am a longtime road warrior. I stay on average about 300+ nights a year in hotels. I am lifetime Platinum for Marriott and started staying at IHG hotels a lot about 4 years ago. I've probably racked up 1000+ nights with them already. I've been a Spire (their top...

This is such a classic and iconic place to stay while in San Fran. It is not cheap but the service and the rooms were great. A person feels like you step backward in time. The views of the bay were stunning and the restaurant and bar at the top was a must see.

FRONT DESK EXPERIENCE: A group of us went up for a conference. Check in was a mess because this hotel happened to be hosting their own conference. If you are peeved by disorganization then this experience would have had you on edge. Our rooms were not ready yet but the gentleman who finally helped us was very kind and tried...

I stayed at this hotel many years ago to attend a conference and forgot how nice it was. The company I work for held a meeting at Mark Hopkins last weekend. I live in the South Bay and decided to take BART vs having to drive into the city. I'm glad i did because i avoided the traffic, construction and...

We spent two nights at the hotel during a trip to the West Coast of the USA. Overall, the hotel was satisfactory but I would say expensive for what it was. The room we had was spacious and well equipped. My only slight criticism was that bed was too soft for my taste and the bath (if you can call...

For a traditional San Francisco experience you can't beat the Mark Hopkins. The "Top of the Mark" has an amazing 360 degree view of the city with classic cocktails. The rooms are great and the staff is super.

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
