We only stayed here for one night as a last minute alternative to staying at Yosemite (which we couldn't do because of the Government shutdown). It was relatively inexpensive for a basic room. The hotel is not too far from Union Square but it should be noted that its at the top of a very steep hill so in order...

The "norm" for luxury hotels is to nickel and dime (well, the charges are considerably higher) their guests. It's an odd fact that a Marriott/Holiday Inn type place will almost invariably offer free WiFi and free coffee/tea and often light breakfast in the lobby, if a motel, free parking as well. But the more you pay, the less you get...

The Mark Hopkins is located at a perfect location in the city, provided you have no problem to conquer the steep streets. The views from the Top of the Mark are great. The general atmosphere of the hotel is rather outdated, but could still be charming if the personnel would be hospitable, which they are not except for the staff...

Thank you for sharing your experience from your recent stay at the InterContinental Mark Hopkins San Francisco. I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us, especially the service from the Front Desk and Concierge team. I am sorry however to hear that you found the Top of the Mark Lounge staff unfriendly. Please be assured that...

My husband and I recently stayed at Mark Hopkins. We were quoted a rate of $349 a night. While our stay was excellent and the hotel beautiful, we were shocked to view our bill and see that for the last 2 nights our rate went to $439 and then $719! When we called the hotel next day they told us...

This is a delightful hotel. Old fashioned elegance. Service is excellent. Rooms as quality classic. Everything expected is there. It is an opulent place to stay. Small not likes: expensive internet on my deal and $6 water in room. Ovrrall very good and look forwars to staying again

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights as part of a larger group tour package and found it to be an excellent choice. We have been to S.F. before but stayed in the Fisherman's Wharf area. This location allowed us to explore many other parts of the city. The hotel exceeded our expectations from the friendliness of the staff...

Get a club room here and you will feel like a star! Morning breakfast, afternoon tea, happy hour, and sweets before bedtime are all included. The rooms are spacious and elegant and the views are phenomenal!! Only downside is being at the top of the hill means hiking back up every time you go down but hey, it's San Francisco...

Stayed here for 3 nights in May, can’t remember anything bad about the room or hotel really. The hotel has a nice entrance and lobby and the bar on the top floor is certainly worth a trip as the views are amazing. I can’t comment on breakfast or eating in the hotel. The lack of a bar/café on the ground...

We spent one night in San Francisco and stayed at the Mark Hopkins at the top of Nob Hill. The hotel is lovely with lots of elegant details. They upgraded us to a suite and it was luxurious to have 2 full rooms and a bath in San Francisco. The amenities in the bath were top notch and included bath...

Stayed here on business with a colleague and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Large rooms although the shower was poor for a hotel of this standard and the dreaded shower curtain that surely is a throwback to the 1970's? Used the gym twice and the equipment was rather shabby and in need of updating. The hotel has a grand feel that...

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
