I'll start with the positives: Nice Staff minus the bartender Room was clean - minus the BUGS in the bed Had a bar and Burger place on site So not many positives but I'm not normally very picky. To me a hotel is just somewhere I sleep for the night, wake up and leave so I don't need anything fancy.... More

Stayed there over NYE in 2014 over night. Free valet parking (which is a plus) The place is very nicely decorated 50 style.. the room was clean the check in was speedy. They do allow pets! which is great! The floor plan is a bit complicated... but no big deal. The noise lever is very high due to paper thin... More

I am a business traveler. My meeting was at the Convention Center. This property is conveniently located to the Center and to all the activities in Civic Center ... Ballet, Symphony, Art Museum, Opera House, etc. The staff could not have been friendlier or more accommodating of my needs. The property decor is well-done, safe, comfortable. This hotel was perfect location for our visit to San Francisco. Secured parking was a plus! The outdoor heated pool was wonderful. The staff was very courteous and upgraded our room. I would stay here again,

A cool and funky hotel in the heart of SF. Got a great deal on Hotwire to come here and had a really good experience at this hotel; despite some of the areas nearby being a little run down and frequented with beggars. A few walks nearby did not show SF in its best light. The staff are super cool;... More

I recently attended a huge conference at the Moscone. I was looking for a relatively inexpensive hotel within walking distance. I found the Americania. The whole place is decorated in a retro 70s/80s style. Even though the room was very retro looking, it was clean and comfortable. There was no AC, but it wasn't necessary while there. The ceiling fan... More

This hotel is surprisingly awesome. There are a lot of reviews panning the neighborhood, but as long as you keep to yourself, avoid eye contact, and avoid nearby 6th Street (easy to do, just use 7th instead and go up to Market) you'll be fine. Even 6th Street looks much more scary than it really is as long as you... More

This hotel really exceeded my expectations. I had previously stayed in the Intercontinental, but, due to a large conference, they were full on the one night I was back in San Francisco. I booked here, not expecting much, but was very surprised. It has the looks of an old fashioned motel, but has been updated. It is clean, the beds... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighbourhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighbourhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighbourhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
