Having been to San Fan before we knew we wanted to dump the car and get around by foot/tram and this hotel with free parking was absolutely perfect. Easy parking and check in. The room was totally adequate and modern with usual access to modern tv, ice machine etc. Bed was really comfy, room was quiet and the shower pressure...

Great location and hotel ! Easy 5 minute walk to Fishermans Wharf and tram terminal, 10 minute walk to the Crooked Street and surrounded by bars and eateries. We stayed in room 315 a family of 5 (3 tennagers 2adults) and had plenty of room, 3 queen beds, 2 rooms !. The rooms have glimpses of the bay and views...

The Columbus Motor may not offer the best views from some of the rooms, but it is very reasonable for it's location. The desk staff were very helpful with directions to restaurants, sights, and bars. It has all that you need and a bit more. Flat panel Tvs, free parking and easy check ins made this a nice inn. I...

Stayed here on a vacation with friends. Was within a couple blocks of all the major San Francisco sights. Found out after we got to the hotel that they have a shuttle to the airport and have free parking. We took the BART and then a bus which dropped us off across the street from the hotel. Beds were comfortable....

I was most surprised that The Columbus Motor Inn was in a very flat part of San Francisco. I pictured it to be a hilly walk to everything, but it was all flat that we walked in our 2 days there. We had my 76 year old father with us, and a lot of walking hurts his back. This hotel...

This was my second stay at Columbus Motor Inn, and I was less impressed this time. We stayed for four nights in October 2010. Pros: Front desk staff is still friendly, parking is still free (though not overly abundant), and the location cannot be beat - walking distance to so much you'd want to see in San Francisco. Some rooms...

I stayed at the Columbus Motor Inn while visiting my adult daughter in San Francisco. This hotel is not fancy, but the rooms are generously sized, spotlessly clean, and the management is helpful with directions, restaurant recommendations, and arranging shuttle service to the airport. The location is just two blocks from a trolley car stop, and just a few blocks...

The best things about this property are the location and the free parking. Just a few blocks from Fisherman's Wharf it is very east to get to all the touristy things San Francisco has to offer. Cable Car and bus connections are all within a few blocks and, if you're a walker, you won't even need the mass transportation. The...

Stayed for 6 nights in mid August. The major CON: Came home with bed bugs! Other cons - grimy, broken ice machine, free parking, but not enough spots available, and expensive for what you get. Again bed bugs! The postive is for the service - nice staff.

We would stay at The Columbus Motor again. The rooms were clean and neat. Did not hear any noise (room was in the back). The free parking was a big plus! The staff was very helpful. All good things......but the location! It was perfect. Everything was within walking distance. Fisherman's Wharf, Chinatown, cable cars, etc., it was great. And, for...

Staying in Russian Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Russian Hill
Russian Hill has evolved into a chic residential neighborhood with outstanding views from every corner. Combined with several great cafes, restaurants, antique shops and boutiques, it’s easy to see why any visitor would gladly leave their heart in San Francisco. Cars line up day after day to drive down Lombard Street, the “crookedest” street in the world, and make the slow creep downhill past charming period homes. Polk Street is the main drag in this neighborhood, where you will find trendy bars, cafes and shops populated with locals, but for one of the most charming rides in the city, grab a cable car heading up and down Hyde Street.
