We wanted something cheap and near harbour in SF but this place was just horrible. All people there are junkies or really weird, we didnt feel safe, our room was dirty and with bedbugs. Shared bathrooms at the hallway are one big disaster. Dont you ever stay there

You would definately expect more for that price. Little bit smelly. The receptionists are not very serviceminded. There was no air conditioning in the room. The shared restrooms are ok, expected worde. It's would be an ok budget stay if the price was lower.

Disgusting! Most terrible and grossest place I have been to all my life! Room is full of bugs and mice, loud surrounding... I don't even know where to start. Cleanliness is a big issue! Never, never consider a stay here! It's not worth any penny!

As I sat with my head on the headboard, watching one of the two channels we could get on the tv, I realised that bed bugs had made a little home on the headboard right near where my head had just been. My friend woke up in the middle of the night to find a strange man peering through our...

Don't ever come here with your family / girlfriend / wife. Chances are that you will come happily but go shabbily. Good for Bagpackers and a solo stay due to its good location. No good value for money , Rooms bear a picture where they havent been cleaned since decades!!

The worst hotel I have ever stayed in my life. Do not stay here no matter what happen. Everything is dirty, there is no room service, everything is old, there are weird people everywhere, people doing drugs, the shower was broken, bed bugs, the guy on the "lobby" do not respect the guests, he listen to loud music at 1am,...

Do not stay here if you value your health, or your life in general! We were parked right across the street from this 'hotel' and it still had to be pointed out to us by a cab driver. There is no signage and from the outside you would never believe there was a 'hotel' inside. The door was covered in...

We booked this place without much research, because it was 6pm on a Saturday and we needed a place that night (fiance and I). We originally booked a bedroom without a bathroom, thinking the shared bathrooms would be fine. My fiance used the bathroom soon after checkin, said it was horrible, and we asked for an upgrade. (I was already...

This Hotel / Hostel is really good if you're young. The location is great, between Columbus Ave and Broadway, near to the Fisherman's wharf (the bus 8x stop in front of the hotel's door and go directly to the Pier 39). It is also close to Union Square and Lombard Street. (Coit tower is about 15 minutes walking) The girl...

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighbourhood home.
