Good hotel with a great location, close to cable cars, union square, shopping and good eating places. Rooms good standard very helpful staff. Free wi fi in reception. Get weekly passes for buses and cable cars works out cheaper and easier then purchasing everyday.

This was the cheapest hotel I could find in the area (at $738 total for 3 nights) and as it was built in 1926 I was just a little apprehensive but no need. Room was compact but well furnished (especially appreciated the height adjustable office chair and good wifi). The location is brilliant - just a minute or two from...

I learnt there are two main streets, Market Street and Powell, both of which are two minute walks away. Market street has all the fancy shops, Bloomingdales, Abercrombie & Fitch while Powell is the cable car route going past union square, another great tourist place. Be aware of homeless people, they shout to themselves but are harmless, but are seen...

This hotel was better then we expected. We stayed here in September and we were on a mini vacation. The whole staff was very friendly, But there was one that stood out the most. We would like to give a very big THANK YOU to our housekeeper Linelle who greeted us everytime she seen us. The thing that we will remember...

Stayed here before and after a long trip to Singapore, Malaysia and Maldives. The hotel was in the perfect location, walking distance to Union Square! It was small than what we are usually used to, but we were very happy with how hospitable and accommodating the staff was - particularly Randy Millares and Jessica (forgot her name). I wish everyone...

Stayed here last weekend for my honeys birthday and a friends anniversary and initial thought when I pulled up was oh dear what did I do as I did the booking! I walked in and was greeted by Randy who's service level was exceptional. We were pleased to hear that an upgrade was available and were then handed to Louie...

We weren't expecting great things from the Pickwick, but were pleasantly surprised. We landed in SF on the last weekend of the Americas Cup, so were really struggling to find anywhere with any availability at anything approaching a reasonable price. We ended up here, although at a pretty inflated price. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the decor and...

My partner and I stayed at the Pickwick from Sept 7 to September 14. Having read some poor reviews, we were not sure what to expect, but in the event the hotel was fine and we were quite happy with our room. The hotel is slightly quaint because unlike other hotels they haven't ripped out all the old fixtures and...

Stayed here one night. On arrival around 10am, the staff were very friendly- especially the bellhop. He was kind enough to stow our bags for us and direct us to where we wanted to go. After a long day of touring, it was a nice surprise to have such a swanky and comfortable room. Although not the most spacious, we...

Walking distance to most places I go. Welcoming staff, nice rooms. Fairly reasonable rates for SF. Love the discount rates for on site parking. Have stayed there for business as well as family outings. Wireless internet could be better.

Staying in SoMa

Neighbourhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighbourhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighbourhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
