Let me start off by stating that this was my first trip to California and the city has much to offer. I did a lot of research to find a property that was to the standard of luxury I am used to. I work in boutique hotels, so I not only enjoy the opportunity to be the guest but also am well informed on the standard of service the guest shall receive. I decided not to go with the hotel brand I work for because they were not as beautiful and up to date as the Clancy is.

First off the location is easy to find and very close to convenient stores, restaurant options and I was even able to walk to Chinatown! The property itself is very beautiful and modern, picture worthy!

Before I got to the hotel I called in for restaurant recommendations because my friends and I were starving, the young woman gave me the name of The Fly Trap which is just what we were looking for. I wish I remembered her name, she was great!
My check in experience with JAY was great, he helped me place my deposit on my room, adding names to my reservation and gave me an upgrade to a high floor!

The TV in our room said "Good afternoon, Savannah" which I thought was a sweet personal touch. :)
Our first night was great, we had a double room which fit us 4 comfortable with our 4 large luggage, there was enough room to move around. The lighting in the room was very yellow/orange, girls will understand this when doing your makeup.
By the second night we started to realize that the room was kinda toasty at night, we had the AC on all night but woke up sweaty. We called an engineer to the room which took over 20 minutes, we had to call twice to get someone to come up. Turns out there's a switch by the bed that was turned off. Wish we knew about that.
This day we also put the green door sign on to make up the room which they did WITHOUT us verbally requesting. So when we didn't get services for 2 days while having the sign on and had to call both days for towels and trash bags it was definitely annoying. On Saturday, I went to the desk to verbally request our room to be service I was told we had to request it? The process was very unclear during our stay.
The AC continued to be faulty during our stay but it wasn't even worth mentioning because it would work and be cool then through out the night be inconsistent.
There's also no complimentary water, so I paid $20 so that my friends and I can rehydrate after sweating all night.

At departure, I mistakenly left behind my airpods so I emailed the guest service manager but didn't get a reply. I called twice and got directed to lost and found/security but no one ever picked up their extension.
By the third call I was able to get assistance but was informed that only Platinum members get their items shipped to them complimentary. I found this very strange because at both luxury properties I've worked at we did this for our guest complimentary as a gesture of good faith. Anthony sympathized with me and is going to take care of this for me. Shout out to him, I appreciate his kindness.

Overall, 3/5 and would still recommend to family and friends. I just wished the standard room information was a little more clear.

We spent the first weekend in October 2021 at The Clancy. From check-in to check-out our stay was flawless!

The rooms are clean and comfortable plus very quiet for a busy downtown hotel! We didn't need housekeeping services since we were only there for 3 nights but the staff was always available if one needed extra towels or shampoo items.

It's a great location, close to the ballpark as we walked to the Giants/Padres game on Saturday without any problems. The pub/bar in the Clancy was open at night until 11pm and service was fantastic! (A lot of restaurants in the area are only open until about 8pm so plan accordingly.)

Special kudos to Darius who checked us in and gave us a fantastic room with a view. HIs professionalism is wonderful and he is definitely an asset to the Marriott name!

Thank you again for a wonderful stay!

My main concern was a quiet space so this review is mainly focused on that.

Very welcoming front desk and bell staff.

The room was spacious and the bed was comfy. Housekeeping staff was very respectful and quiet in the halls while conducting early morning room cleanings. No loud voices or banging carts.

My room was on the 18th floor with a view out onto Second street. Most nights were very quiet, but even on the top floor if a fire truck goes by or it’s garbage day, you will hear it. Still much much quieter than other SF hotels I’ve stayed in. Would definitely stay again.

I was in a room that had a connecting room with a locked door to the other side. If they have non-connecting rooms, I would highly recommend. You can hear everything coming from the adjoining room. True of all hotels I’ve stayed at.

Ice machines are on the 7th and 15th floors I believe. If you’re on one of those floors make sure it’s not near the machines as they make quite a racket.

A 10-15 minute walk takes you to everything you need-BART, restaurants, a Whole Foods, a Trader Joe’s, coffee, SFMOMA, you name it. If you don’t mind a short walk to activities this is a great home base from which to explore.

I would skip the coffee place at the hotel and walk 5 minutes to Blue Bottle coffee or Philz for better quality at the same price.

I would stay here again if the price was competitive.

There are several reasons I would not recommend a stay at The Clancy. First of all and most importantly, the attempt to extract more money from me by charging for internet access to me is reprehensible. When one stays at a Super 8 you get complimentary internet access for God's sake. Certainly a 5 star hotel that charges 5 star rates should provide internet to its guests. I am not a Marriott Rewards member so in order to receive internet, I entered my room number and last name expecting to pay the $14,95 to be able to have internet. After doing so, I did several things online expecting to pay the fee and then answered a phone call and talked for about 10 mins. Upon returning to my laptop from the phone call, the internet was disconnected and I was unable to use it again. I called to the front desk who connected me to a tech support person who made many, many attempts over the course of roughly 30 mins. to get me back online to no avail. I finally went downstairs to speak to someone in person. By the luck of the draw, the young man working at the front desk named Michael was able to get me back online by going in to the hotel system and fixing the problem. Kudos to Michael, an employee dedicated to customer service!

I also was charged $85 to park when I was riding a motorcycle and the fee was supposed to be $40. I only ascertained this by calling and asking for a breakdown of the charges pending on my credit card since I never received a folio either on paper or by email. Upon speaking to the Front Desk Manager she was very helpful about the matter and is crediting my account for the entire parking fee. That was not necessary but a positive gesture. However, one has to wonder about why the charge was made in the first place.

I also went down to the Seven Square Taproom (the onsite restaurant) to have dinner and was told by the bartender to have a seat and the hostess would be with me shortly. After waiting 10 minutes and seeing no hostess, I asked the bartender if I were to sit at the bar ight I get some food and drink since I never had seen a hostess. He was apologetic and very attentive and a very nice person and took good care of me from that point forward. However, whomever the hostess was failed totally and I should not have had to approach the bartender to be served (when my preference was to sit at a table, not at the bar).

Lastly, there was no in room coffee maker and my guess that reason for that was so guests go downstairs and get coffee from the coffee shop thus increasing profits. I cannot of course prove that but regardless, a 5 star hotel should have complimentary coffee with a coffee maker in the guest rooms.

I stayed at the Clancy for several days for business, and found it to be a comfortable modern hotel, with chic updates. The whole hotel has been redone recently, and the rooms have great tech, including a smart TV, wifi, and convenient charging stations. The bed was comfortable, with great pillows.

The staff was incredibly kind, and when I asked to change my room to a higher floor, requested extra pillows, or needed help storing my luggage, they were quick to help and always friendly.

The location is very central, and easy walking distance to most of downtown SF without having to take public transit or taxi / Lyft. I was pleasantly surprised that the block around the hotel felt relatively cleaner and safer than other streets I walked down in downtown SF, as well.

There are some nice common spaces in the hotel lobby, with a bar and small cafe-style restaurant, which I saw a lot of fellow business travelers using for impromptu meetings or chats. Most of the hotel seems to have pretty hum-drum views, even from a high floor, but, for crashing and relaxing at the end of a day of meetings, this hotel was pretty top notch. All in all, I'd recommend and stay again!

Very friendly front staff. Large lobby connected to the coffee shop, restaurant, and bar. Plenty of comfortable spots for lounging. There was a cool patio as well with fire pits but it was still a little too cold for us.

Seven Square Taproom
This is the only restaurant instead the hotel (besides the coffee stand). Menu is small for breakfast and during the day but the quality of food was very good! As was the service. We had the breakfast burrito that was stufffed with eggs, roasted potatoes, cheddar, bacon, avocado and it was served with roasted salsa and house corn chips. It was very filling and can easily be shared for the price of $21.

The gym was currently being renovated (Nov 2022) but we were able to use Fitness SF, a gym the partnered with. It is about a 7 min walk but it is huge and very nice.

The room itself is spacious with a large couch, fridge, safe, desk, etc. A huge plus for me was the shelving we both had next to our bed - 2 plugs and 2 lights. Bed was very comfortable and shower was always hot.

Location was great...was able to walk everywhere (Chintatown, Stinking Rose, Union Square, etc) and felt safe as there were many others out and about.

The Clancy San Francisco is a new hotel and the design is quite modern and comfortable. The location is a little further from most attractions in San Francisco and might make more sense for a business traveler given its proximity to some of he larger corporations in the area.

The rooms are well designed and thought out.

The staff are well trained and very professional. In particular, Brenda at front desk was very helpful and professional. She helped me with some printouts as the business center was not operational.

The hotel is very nice, the location was great and the staff friendly.
I had some issues with the room cleanness and housekeeping like forgetting to take the garbage out, refilling coffee.
I also didn’t like that for everything requested they asked for a fee, like extending checkout for 1 hr or getting the room earlier (and the hotel wasn’t full).
Besides this everything was fine.

A nicely remodeled hotel in the heart of SOMA. Walk to anywhere. Check-in was a bit of a mess. Took me 15 minutes before I was able to check-in. Very small check-in area. For being an Autograph Collection Hotel, the hotel falls a little bit short. I expect better bedding and sheets. The pillows are cotton balls and the bath amenities such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion were all different brands. The quality of products should be higher. I think because of supply chain supplies, the hotel is doing what it can to at least provide them. The gym is very small for this size property and has not been updated. They let me use the gym at the W Hotel down the street. The hotel use to be a Courtyard Marriott. You can’t hear a thing outside with the soundproof windows. The rooms should have bottles of water. You had to go downstairs to the front desk to ask and they only gave small ones. The front desk staff and everyone that works at the hotel was great. Will return.

My husband and I stayed here overnight after spending our Anniversary in Napa and wanted a place that would allow us to get to the airport quickly. This hotel is average the lobby felt like a train station, we arrived the same day San Francisco enacted vaccination cards for restaurants and bars. It seemed a bit chaotic when we went down to the lobby bar for a drink. We were being asked multiple times if we had showed our cards we just hoped there was better communication amongst the staff! But please order the Lavender drink it’s amazing! Our room was large loved the couch and seating although the walls are paper thin and he heard folks in the hallway all night. Oh and if you have a car and plan on staying here valet is $75 and Wifi (enhanced) is $19. We are Bonovoy members with Marriott so that option is free. This place serves its purpose but don’t expect anything extraordinary here.
