My husband and I have stayed at the SW for quite a few years, and I returned as a widow recently. It is clean, well maintained, and the staff are helpful, except for one person on my last visit, who seemed brain dead. The best thing is the location, where North Beach (Italian) and Chinatown come together. Breakfast dumplings and/or...

It's all good at this hotel. The location is between the Italian and Chinese areas, also close to Fisherman's Wharf (easy to walk to FW, but getting back is all up hill, so taxi is best). It's a clean hotel offering a simple but effective continental breakfast. The immediate area has a few strip clubs, but I didn't get the...

Stayed at the SW in September. Friendly staff, very clean room and totally quiet from the busy street we were on. We didn't have the continental breakfast that comes with the stay but quite happy with the choice.

I loved my stay at the SW Hotel. I am already planning to stay there, the next time I am visiting SF. It's a beautiful hotel, with free access to wi-fi, reasonable car parking and allow guess some privacy. Although, it's a bit old in terms of your lock and key not electronic operated keys, it's still a wonderful place...

My wife and I stayed for one night following an Alaskan Cruise. We had stayed at the Marriott for two days prior to the cruise and due to a medical conference were unable to get back their following the cruise. The service at the front counter was excellent and the hotel's foyer is spacious and nice and clean. The lifts...

First stop after a long haul from New Zealand. Hotel is very clean and the front desk very helpful and friendly. Room was quite basic for the price but the Americas cup is on so everywhere is well booked out. Only negative is the noise from other rooms. Can hear low level conversations quite easily.

Great location, access to China Town, restuarants, night clubs , bookstore , Beautiful hotel and friendly service. I would stay here again because the rooms are clean and well kept. This hotel offers free wi-fi acess, continental breakfast and in reality a five star stay. Beautifully decorated lounge, perfect for meeting friends while staying at the SW hotel.

Nice hotel on the border of Chinatown and Little Italy. Lots of great places to eat nearby (I recommend Firenze by Night, brought back some nice memories of Florence). The area is very lively and a short walk or very quick bus ride to Fisherman's Wharf. Overall I'm very happy I chose to stay here vs the Union Square area....

Stayed here on August 10. I like the bars and restaurants in the North Beach area and this hotel seem is one of a few full service hotels in the area. I would easily stay here again. They offer a breakfast but any adventurous traveler would walk out the door and find a greasy spoon eatery off of Columbus somewhere....

I chose this hotel because SF is expensive and this was one of the few hotels in our budget. I was pleased with the choice. It is clean and comfortable. There is an iron and ironing board available. Wifi is fast and available throughout the hotel. My favourite thing was the location. It's technically in chinatown but within 1 minute...

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
As the oldest in North America, San Francisco's Chinatown is an exotic experience. A unique neighbourhood decorated with colourful shops, historic streetlights, hanging lanterns, and pagoda roofs awaits behind the stone-carved dragon gates. Feast on dim sum at the tea houses, or meet the locals who gather at historic Portsmouth Square to play chess or practice Tai Chi. Fish markets, produce stands, tourist shops, jewelry stores, fortune tellers, temples and restaurants come together to create a world unto itself in this historic neighbourhood.
