Hayes Valley Inn isn't the most luxurious hotel but it really is comfort at its best. I'm not one for shared bathrooms and like a luxury on holiday, but with what is essentially a 'city break' this hotel is perfect. The rooms are homely, need a little updating, but on the whole comfortable and have everything you need. Breakfast is...

Hayes Valley Inn is a great place for the undemanding visitor. Small rooms, shared baths, nice included continental breakfast. Reminds me of hotels in France 20-30 years ago. Clean, comfortable, secure and friendly.

Stayed one night whilst on supported Pacific Coast bike ride. First impressions were concerning as needed a key to enter hotel. Maybe that's the norm for SF but wondered if I was in a safe area of the city. However the staff were great, the room was clean and more than adequate for a one night stay. Sharing the bathroom...

When my husband suggested this hotel, I was reluctant to try it, but the reviews (and the prices!) were so good, and the area of the city was so amazing, that I decided to try it. The issue was that bathrooms and showers are not in the room. They're 2 or 3 doors down (at the most) from every room,...

This motel is fairly cheap (consider SF prices). Unfortunately it is a "cheap" motel in every sense. The hotel consists of multiple buildings with different entrances in the block. You are given a full key chain to access everything, and then are sent to find the rather unmarked doorway to your building. Pray you get a room that looks towards...

We liked this place a lot. The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and everything was clean. We would stay here again. There are excellent restaurants within half a block. Chez Maman is on the corner.

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights during our recent road trip around western USA. The reception staff were really sweet and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were clean and fresh however unfortunately there was hardly any room to move around. No tea or coffee making facilities in guests rooms however cookies and instant...

We had a good stay here! the rooms are pricey, seen as you don't get a bathroom in your room but we soon realised that San Fransisco is very expensive, especially for food!! subway every night for us on a travellers budget! but to be fair I didn't meet anyone on my way to the bathroom or toilet so I...

Our room was cutely decorated. It was clean and comfy. The neighborhood was great. There are many restaurants and bars nearby and there were a lot of different people, locals and tourists, young and old. Breakfast was served at the lovely kitchen. Be prepared to share your table with other guests as there are just few of them. The guests...
